my rescue died tonight of natural causes, likely a mild heart attack. she was barely responsive but she did answer me enough to say goodbye
10pm, much too late for any vet, she died in her bed without any pain that I could tell, she was not making any noise, I was there when she made her last puff of air :(
she arrived at my house 13 years ago, she was anywhere from 9 months to 18 months old so it's hard to tell
I can only guess she was around 14
very mellow cat and very trusting, I got her fixed and brought her into the house for 13 years of a very good life
was actually surprised somebody threw out a calico and she was not pregnant or had any medical issues.

picture was 4 months after I brought her inside, she was a very happy cat and felt safe and secure

Never an easy thing. I had a female rescue too, who lived to be just about the same age, named Missy as well. She was all black and gray with lines running through the fur with an M on her forehead. Wonderful cat. She's been gone about 17 years.

Thank you for loving Missy and giving her a quality life. So sad when they go over the rainbow. They have brought smiles to our lives and love and sweetness to our hearts and we will always have the memories. Take care. We feel your pain and send you :smiliehug:.

The saddest parts of my life involve the loss of cats. We have five little graves in the back yard, of cats who brought us happiness and joy over the years.

Sorry for your loss.
I know one day my cat ain't gonna be there.
She's 22 at least.

I did, but not really sure if I'm happy with it.

You're welcome to take it and use it if you want to. I can find another avatar, maybe this one...

Nah, that's just the USMB mascot. :D
New posters must meet it!

Think we have about that many too. Currently have six inside. 5 were abandoned and showed up at our place in ones and two. She's working on domesticating another stray. Comes inside now and sometimes spends the night

My cat does not do inside. I got her in fer like 30 seconds last winter. Went to shut the door, and oh no.
Old girl moved mighty quick.

first pet ever to die in my house and I was there to the end, normally if they are not feeling well or have signs of an issue you take them to the vet, get a diagnosis and that is usually when they determine it's best if they are put to sleep
you say goodbye but don't watch it
I watched her take her last two gulps of breath at roughly 10PM
I'm no doctor but I confirmed she was gone when she let go of whatever urine she had in her bladder as humans do as well, basically everything that lives

the vet when I bought her into to check on her and get her fixed probably told me her rough age at the time

I am so very sorry for your loss. All of our now seven cats have been a rescue. Our current cat empress is Khwan Jai. She is a Mink and knows how to rule the roost.
