If You Want Me Back I'm Not Changing

If Republicans think they have a mandate, they are sadly mistaken.

The electorate has proven to be fickle over the last few election cycles. They swing radically from left to right and back again.

Voters soured on Trump last time and they will do so again. Republicans will live and die on the economy.
Trumps Trade War will cause serious damage and Republicans will pay the price
The Democrats are on the wrong side of most 80/20 issues. Until they gravitate to the center, they will continue to lose elections. The last few election cycles prove nothing. The Democrats have went off the deep end.

Nor should they

Wait for Republicans to Fuk Up
They always do
A smart person would want to change something since the election showed a sweeping win for Trump, not to mention their current approval rating is only 27%. Even Gavin Newsome gets that. He's trying to convince voters he's a changed man.

The Dems aren't going to move away from the PC and Identity Politics that played such a big part in the rise Trumpism in the first place. It's in their DNA.

It also looks like the energy in the party is to get rid of the Schumer types and move towards the AOC progressives. Then they'll wait for the GQP to fuck things up. If that happens.

If it does happen, the progressives will be ready, and the country will go swinging way the fuck back to the other end of the spectrum, which has been my concern all along.

Back and forth, back and forth. Why? Because the two parties aren't allowed to work together like adults any more.

Yes, the Dems need to move center.

The GOP have moved too far right and totalitarian.

Let's see who gets it right.
Well, so far democrats have said they aren't changing anything, as evidenced by the fact that Schumer tried to save the party from itself and he's about to be tarred and feathered and run out of town.

Sorry bout that,

1. Change is good for the Democrats, but can they change?
2. No.
3. And you can bet your bottom dollar, she didnt welcome him back with open arms, he got his ass kicked to the curb.
4. Democrats are in a total tale spin, and there is no way stopping them from crashing down to the earth.
5. All we will be able to do is watch.
6. They will not correct their flight.

Yes, he did get his ass kicked to the curb just as democrats not only did in the election but currently as a party they only have a 27% approval rating. But, they feel no need to change anything.

There's a gaping hole there. But the Dems have to do it.
And so far they have shown that they refuse to change anything. Full steam ahead on the Titanic. But, don't worry, by the time they get there those icebergs will have been melted by Climate Change.

Dems must modify identity and PC politics.

We know that the GOP are wedded to white 1950 values, and that won't fly if the Dems ease up.

OK
What should Democrats change?

OK
What should Democrats change?
That's a question for democrats to figure out. I'm actually asking you lefties. What do you think democrats should change? So far, with sweeping election losses and an approval rating of only 27% democrats don't seem to want to change anything. Once again, they are tone deaf to the voters who voted them out. That's what this thread is about, democrats refusing to change, other than progressives saying they should move further left, opposite of what the democrat voters actually want.

I would support the rights of transgenders to work, live and not be harassed
I would deny those born male to participate in women’s sports
I would drop that preferred pronoun nonsense

That is all I would change

Many, many moons ago my current wife was married to someone else. She wasn't happy so they separated. During that time she met me and we really hit if off. We dated for over a year and it was obvious things were working out. But, she was still legally married. So, she called her "husband" and wanted to meet with him at a restaurant and tell him that she wanted to get the ball moving on an official divorce as soon as possible. He wasn't really aware of what she wanted to talk about. So, they started dinner and before she could say much of anything he blurted out, "If you want me back I'm not changing". Needless to say he soon found out that wasn't what she wanted to talk about.

In any event, you and the moderators are probably wondering why I am putting my personal story in the politics section of USMB. The answer is because the current democrat party reminds me of what happened back then years ago. They are waiting for Trump to fail and hoping that voters will come back to them and they are telling those voters, "See, we told you so. If you want us back, we're not changing anything. You take us the way we are, with the very same policies that led you to vote for Trump in the first place".

After months of reflection after their election losses, they have decided on this strategy of not changing anything that caused Biden to have a 37% approval rating with only 25% of Americans thinking the country was going in the right direction. This is the basket they are putting all of their eggs in.
I'm not interested buying any cookies, but have a nice day.

I don't think your first one counts. That's not a change. But, thanks for saying you wouldn't change much. But at least your going in the right direction with baby steps.

I already told you I would not change much

Healtcare, low cost education, infrastructure investment, protect the environment, worker protections, gay rights, right to an abortion, cooperation with global allies, Gulf of Mexico

All central to the Democratic Party

LOL.

Ummmmmmmmm, we have healthcare, democrats' ACA.

What the hell is low cost education? The price of education is so high dems wanted to cancel student loans.

Infrastucture investment is wanted by both parties. Democrats want the cost added to the national debt, increasing inflation and taxes and Republicans want to pay for it otherwise.

Protect the environment? How, by adding another 50 trillion dollars onto our debt and burning all Teslas?

Trump is trying to bring good paying jobs back to the US, which is a worker protection and the reason why union members voted for Trump.

Gays already have rights and can sue if they aren't receiving them.

There are more abortions now than there were before Dobbs.

Cooperation with global allies? Do you mean letting them use us as their personal piggy bank?

What difference does it make what name is on the Gulf? It actually amazes me that you guys bring that up a lot and not the Denali/Mt. Mckinley thing where they took away a native American name. Why do you care more about Mexicans than you do native Americans?

In most of the free world, sending your child to college or having a major illness does not lead to a lifetime of debt.

Democrats continue to fight for affordable healthcare and higher education for all.

Republicans have consistently voted against infrastructure investment

To this day, Republicans deny climate change and resist or do not enforce environmental protection

It's all just a shell game with the money. Other countries just charge off affordable healthcare and higher education by charging more taxes - to everyone. They also have more money to spend on these programs by getting the US to pay for their defenses and saving the planet, amid other things such as cheating us on trade. They let the US just add all of that onto our national debt so they don't have to on theirs.

Democrat's ACA is not affordable. And, let's face the truth, it's a waste of money giving higher education to those who aren't capable of it. We need a mix of Chiefs and Indians. That's just the way life is.
