90 years ago, on July 10, 1925, Case Number 5232, the State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes, came before Judge John T. Raulston.

A pivotal moment in the rise of Christian Fundamentalism. Although the judge ruled in favor of Scopes, the national impact of this trial widened the gap between conservative and liberal Christians in the United States.

1967 May 16: Tennessee overturns the Butler law. A newspaper editorial says, "Tennessee will be saved the ordeal of another trial in which a proud state is required to make a monkey of itself in a court of law."

(forty-two years later though)

Hard to believe this is where we were not that long ago, innit?

Oh, the far right social con Christians have not changed in their thinking.

America has changed, much for the better, and during the last three weeks, the social cons have been put on notice. Their day in the sun has ended, night has fallen.
