Microsoft – which is currently running an advertising campaign with the slogan "Your privacy is our priority" – was the first, with collection beginning in December 2007."

NSA PRISM program taps in to user data of Facebook, Yahoo and others | World news | The Guardian

Bill seems to be taking our money, promising us privacy and giving us up to the government without batting an eye. Pretty sleazy of him but the list of companies doing this is growing. At least Bill can take pride in the fact that he was the first one to sign up.

Other notable companies sharing your information are according to the article: Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, YouTube, Skype, AOL and Apple.

This article is pretty shocking.

Verizon seems to be the lead story, but I can't seem to find anything in the US press regarding these companies violating the privacy of their users. I guess it's not a big deal.

You'd be hard-pressed to find many people - no matter how much or how little money they have - who have done as much for as many people as Bill Gates.
