This was a common refrain from a member on a board I posted on years ago....whenever his scientific theories were challenged he'd say: "Is that you Elon?" to shut somebody up. It never worked but he never gave up. Musk, for those who don't know is a software pioneer, founder of PayPal and Tesla EVs, and heavily involved in "Space X"..private space exploration. He's 46 years old, has 6 kids, $21B, and fully supports Trump's tariffs on Chinese steel and other products.
He and Trump have had their differences, he's out there saying he wants to die on Mars, "just not on impact". Here he explains the down and dirty on how China exploits the US on autos real simple:
"For example, an American car going to China pays 25% import duty, but a Chinese car coming to the US only pays 2.5%, a tenfold difference," Musk tweeted.
He also said that American companies that set up factories in China effectively have to have a joint-venture with Chinese counterparts, allowing them to own no more than 50 percent of the factory in China.
Also, no US auto company is allowed to own even 50% of their own factory in China, but there are five 100% China-owned EV auto companies in the US
We raised this with the prior administration and nothing happened. Just want a fair outcome, ideally where tariffs/rules are equally moderate. Nothing more. Hope this does not seem unreasonable.
Elon Musk goes on tweetstorm, siding with Trump over tariffs
