S.C. police told to adjust Taser policies after federal court’s excessive force ruling
It's official. State police have sent the memo.
This insane ruling by a federal circuit court applies to 5 states (for now). It's inevitably going to SCOTUS and may be nationwide soon.
In short....if all you're doing is running from the police or resisting handcuffs because you want to escape......cops in these 5 states are now banned from tazing you.
What does that mean? The Virginia Association of Police Chiefs said it well.
A) Cops will resort to other means which may result in more injury. Like....tackling the thug and kicking his ass....or hit him with a baton....or spray him and put it in the air for bystanders to breath and make him suffer for an hour.......THAT IS why tasers were invented....to avoid batons, spray and fights.
Or
B) Just say fuck it and not bother when criminals run and resist.
Have fun America.
