All federal judges are appointed for life and that guarantees they will take bribes on every issue. Many states let the public elect judges and no reason why we can't do it with the feds. Term limits too - say 6 years. It would require a constitutional amendment.

Liberals oppose the idea - why do liberals hate democracy so much?

SCOTUS is fine just the way it is!

What needs to be done is elect members of Congress with juevos who will stand up for their beliefs and enact laws that reflect the will of the People.

What SCOTUS is not set in stone! It only deals with laws as they are written. Congress can easily draft and pass better laws.

You fool. The SCOTUS has set itself above congress. They have given themselves final say on every issue. They claim authority to write, rewrite, and repeal laws. Where have you been?

Interesting idea.

And the first Supreme Court judge to be elected, if he wanted the job, would be Bill Clinton.

The mass murderer of waco - not a chance. He got away with waco because the internet didn't exist back then. Much different now. THINK

Have you ever read the constitutional section dealing with the supreme court? Nowhere does it say it's the absolute final authority. If SCOTUS doesn't like one law, Congress can always write and enact another.

And finally, if any Justice seems to overstep his or her bounds, there's always the mechanism of IMPEACHMENT!

They are appointed for life - or if removed by Congress.

Yesterday you hate him.

Today you love him.

Proves he's doing his job right.

That's not what the electorate would think.

Clinton could get elected to the SCOTUS. I doubt Scalia, Alito, and Thomas could.

HAHAHA. Name one supreme court judge that has been removed via the impeachment process?? You can't because it's never happened. It's a toothless threat and the judges know it.

No it means we need to stop letting libs make our picks......Chief Justice Bork court might look very different than Roberts

Perhaps...

Perhaps...

To a term of... oh... say... 8 years... just to be different than any of the 2-year or 4-year or 6-year terms we deal with already... and to lessen undue influence amongst justices.

To a maximum of... oh... say... 2 terms (2 x 8 = 16 years max)?

That should keep the fresh blood flowing in the Court...

Not to mention making SCOTUS at least a little more accountable to The People, like the other two branches of the Federal Government are...

An idea whose time has finally arrived?

Does it require a Constitutional Amendment?

OK.

Do it.

No, it proves that you and most others on the right have nothing but contempt for the Constitution, its case law, the rule of law, and our Republic itself.

It proves that you and most others on the right are tedious partisan hacks, you oppose the ruling based on your hostility toward the president, not the merits of the case.

And it proves that you and most others on the right are nothing but petulant children, having a Constitutional temper-tantrum because you didn't get your way.

This is ridiculous and ignorant.

There is no such thing as 'our picks.'

And you actually believe that Kennedy (Reagan) and Roberts (GWB) were appointed by 'libs' – more evidence that ignorance is a prerequisite for being conservative.

Which of course I didnt say.......however Bush was not a conservative,,,,,we should have stood firm on Bork......repubs are to worried about what libs say about them

Actually, stupid, having lifetime appointments is what generally assures they won't be corrupted
Trouble is... Lifetime Tenure ALSO allows them to engage in Judicial Activism, disguised as sage interpretation.

Trouble is... Lifetime Tenure ALSO renders them unaccountable to The People whom they supposedly serve.

The present arrangement has worked well enough for us, nine times out of ten.

Trouble is, that tenth time...
