If you're wondering why Hillary declined to declare Boko Haram a terrorist group, here's your answer.

Hillary Clinton wasn’t the only Obama administration official who went to bat for Boko Haram over the past few years.

Soon after John Kerry took over as Secretary of State, the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Terence P. McCulley, accused the Nigerian government of butchery during a confrontation with Boko Haram terrorists in Baga, a Nigerian town on the shores of Lake Chad, and in May 2013 threatened to withdraw U.S. military aid from the West African nation.

Boko Haram militants attacked a Nigerian military outpost in April 2013 outside Baga, killing one soldier. Following the three-day battle human rights activists, including the George Soros-funded and liberal aligned Human Rights Watch, which is not exactly known for its impartiality when it comes to reporting on Islamic issues, claimed the Nigerian military wantonly slaughtered 183 civilians and burned down over 2,000 homes and businesses
.

I did not know that slaughtering innocent people was "fighting Boko Haram".

Since the OP did not provide a link, I will: Obama Administration Threatened Nigeria with Sanctions in 2013 for Fighting Boko Haram

The Nigerian government denied the claims saying the death toll and destruction had been vastly overstated by its enemies, and in fact 30 Boko Haram terrorists, 6 civilians and one soldier, had died in the fighting. Reports from the Baga clinic, which treated 193 people following the battle, but only 10 with serious injuries, seemed to back up the Nigerian government claim that no large-scale massacre had occurred.

Here is the Human Rights Watch page on the alleged massacre: Nigeria: Massive Destruction, Deaths From Military Raid | Human Rights Watch

Baga residents told Human Rights Watch that soldiers ransacked the town after the Boko Haram militant Islamist group attacked a military patrol, killing a soldier. Community leaders said that immediately after the attack they counted 2,000 burned homes and 183 bodies. Satellite images of the town analyzed by Human Rights Watch corroborate these accounts and identify 2,275 destroyed buildings, the vast majority likely residences, with another 125 severely damaged.

There are conflicting accounts as to how many people were killed in the attack. A community leader who participated in the burial of victims told Human Rights Watch that 183 people were buried on April 18 in individual graves within two cemeteries. Other victims were also later buried, he said. The military called these figures “terribly inflated,” and in an April 22 statement, Edokpaye claimed that only 37 people were killed – 30 of them Boko Haram members. He said that only one soldier and six civilians died.

Killing innocent civilians is "fighting Boko Haram" along the same lines that spying on tens of millions of Americans without warrants for the past 12 years, and locking up US citizens without a writ of habaes corpus, is "fighting Al Qaeda".

And who should we believe? Terrorists that kidnap girls or the Government fighting them? Your own source stated that the claims of the Military were the mostly likely to be right.

You know, I can't figure out what's the big fuss with these guys ?
They always seemed pretty cool to me, and even had one of my favorite songs back in the day. Why does everyone suddenly want them taken out ?

Kerry siding with the enemy should surprise no one. His record is clear. In fact, the record was impressive enough for Obama to appoint him Secretary of State over every foreign policy expert in the United States.

50% of Nigeria's population is Muslim. The reason why Boko haram can move about with impunity is 1) Many Muslims sympathize with book Haram 2) A Boko Haram fighter can at any time drop his weapon and seek refuge among the local community. Are civilians going to get killed? Absolutely. Is Boko Haram Killing Civilians? Absolutely. Did the Nigerian forces take it too far? Absolutely. Did Nigerian Forces take it as far as is traditionally taken in other African countries? Absolutely NOT! Let them go in and fish these bastards out.

I guess you did not read your link. It goes onto say that town is Boko Haram 'stronghold' and Boko have cut all telephone wires going into that town and out.

The area where the attacks took place, Borno State, is Boko Haram’s stronghold.

Nigeria: Massive Destruction, Deaths From Military Raid | Human Rights Watch

Boko carried on a firefight with soldiers in their stronghold hiding in their homes after launching a terrorist attack against the military. The military also claimed it was Boko that set the town on fire with bombs lighting thatched roofs on fire.

The government’s National Emergency Management Agency said they visited two graveyards in Baga but could only identify 32 fresh graves.

None of the residents interviewed by Human Rights Watch saw how the fires were started on the night of April 16, but they all described seeing parts of the town alight

Boko killed 1,500 people in just THREE months, more than HALF civilians, and have kidnapped hundreds and hundreds of school girls selling them into slavery, marriage and raping them. If these bastards want to hide in a village with those villagers knowing full well who they are, they are just as culpable IMO.

Where is Human rights watch for those murders?
