The civil rights lawyer who argued unsuccessfully before the Supreme Court to end Michigan’s affirmative action ban repeated Sunday that the high court’s decision was “racist.”

“This is a racist decision that takes us back to an era of state’s rights,” civil rights attorney Shanta Driver told “Fox News Sunday.” “This decision cannot stand.”

The high court’s 6-2 decision Tuesday upheld a voter-approved change to the Michigan Constitution in 2006 that forbids the state's public colleges to make race, gender, ethnicity or national origin a factor in college admissions.

The basis of the case was the 1995 decision of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor to reject the application of Jennifer Gratz.

Gratz, who is white, told “Fox News Sunday” that she found it “unbelievable” that a decision that prohibits race discrimination could be perceived as “racist.”

1. Someone having a different opinion than you doesn't make them crazy.

2. State's rights aren't a good thing. Slavery, Jim Crow, and Segregation are reasons why.

3. While we have made progress, we have a ways to still go. At the University of Alabama, every single fraternity and sorority is all white. No African Americans are in them in the year 2014. It finally took just last week to vote to be integrated. This in 2014. This was active discrimination of a racial group for joining a student organization at a public university.

That is the reality. That even 50 years after the passage of the Civil Rights act of 1964, we had a public university denying access to a student organization based on their race. Just because we have progressed doesn't mean the work will ever be over because there are still people that use racial, gender and socioeconomic discrimination to thwart people's opportunity for a better life.

That's reality.

What would the left do if they didn't have the race card to play and all the programs to convince people that they care? It's all about finding reasons to take more tax payer money and offering preferential treatment to buy votes and keep people happy. I sense that the Dems are feeling a little desperate and the attacks and cries of racism, war on women and war on the poor are reaching a fever pitch. It's illogical that anyone would trust a big corrupt federal government over individual states. Local officials are in a position where they have to answer to the people. The feds do what they want with no transparency and no explanations when things are discovered.

You do know that these laws weren't created just because but were created because state and local governments were actively discriminating against an entire race of people. So I would say that African Americans have a pretty logical reason to trust the federal government over a state government.
