Editor of the Reformer:

The most difficult people to have a sensible political discussion with these days are Donald Trump supporters. A typical conversation (these "discussions" actually happened) with them goes like this: I ask: "What actual positive things has Trump done?" They answer: "Hillary lies!" Then I ask them why they are not turned off by Trump's demeaning view of women. They answer "Hillary lies!" I ask: "Doesn't Trump lie?" Answer: "Hillary lies!"

I continue. "Why are you not turned off by Trump's hatred of Muslims?" Answer: "Hillary lies!" I try again. "Do you think it is okay for Trump to make fun of disabled people?" I get the same answer: "Hillary lies!" Persevering, I ask: "Aren't you worried about such a thin-skinned, volatile person such as Trump having his finger on the nuclear button?" Answer "Hillary lies!"

The common thread in all of this is obvious, of course. Trump supporters cannot think of one good thing to say about Trump and so they justify their support of him by dumping on Hillary.

If there is a good God in the heavens who cares about America, let us pray that she will inspire enough Americans to vote in November for Hillary.

P.S. The following discussion, thank God, is only hypothetical. Putin is having a summit meeting with President Trump and Putin says to him: "Hey, Trump, I'm going to bomb your country. What are you going to do about it?" Trump, shaking in his boots but still smirking, says "Hillary lies!"

Of course, I don’t believe for one moment that he would do any of these things. I don’t think he understands what they are. And if he gets elected, his establishment buddies will tell him what’s what, and he will fall in line — because he doesn’t care about any of this stuff.

Trump to Deliver Major Policy Speech
Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:15 am

If that headline doesn’t make you laugh, you haven’t been paying attention. The headline could just as well read: “Trump to Awkwardly Read Off TelePrompTer Set of Positions He Does Not Care About Because They Are Not About How Great He Supposedly Is.” Bloomberg reports:

Donald Trump will propose a temporary moratorium on new financial regulations in an economic speech Monday in Detroit in an effort to draw a stark contrast with the domestic policies of Hillary Clinton, who he says “punishes” the American economy.

A moratorium on financial regulations would be a wonderful thing. I could say the same think about his stated support for the REINS Act, which would place accountability for new regulations back in Congress where it belongs.

Of course, I don’t believe for one moment that he would do any of these things. I don’t think he understands what they are. And if he gets elected, his establishment buddies will tell him what’s what, and he will fall in line — because he doesn’t care about any of this stuff.

Of course, droners in the comments will say for the umpteenth time that Hillary will do terrible things for sure, while we don’t know what Trump would do. What we do know, though, is that whatever Trump does becomes “the Republican position” on the issue. And when “the Republican position” becomes the same as the Democrat position, then the Republican party is no longer useful as a party standing for small government.

It’s Stage One thinking vs. long-term thinking.

I have seen this long-term problem coming since May 3. It will take longer to sink in for some of you. I’ll be here when it does, to say I told you so.

P.S. Penn from Penn and Teller illustrates The Sniveling Coward’s methodology in this video. The embed is small, but you can make it full-screen by clicking on the bottom right.

And if you ask a Dim if they are going to vote for Hillary even though she lies they say, "But Donald is worser".

They you say, "worser" is not a word to which they say, "More right winged lies!"

Hillary has no accomplishments as Secretary of State, the entire Middle East is on fire, and you have the gall to ask about the accomplishments of Trump? At least Trump disagreed with the war in Iraq while Hillary voted to go.

"Believe me" Dopey Donald Trump in his Goofy Hat is not an unknown. There is a beautifully, tremendous public record on him and his behavior through the decades

start here Trump’s War on “Losers”: The Early Years

then here How Donald Trump Became “The Short Fingered Vulgarian”

there is far more like the column or letter to the editor from a former lawyer, but' we'll fall off here Decades Later, 'Spy' Magazine Founders Continue To Torment Trump

I whole heartedly disagree.

Looking at the current trend, all Presidents win a second term since Clinton. Bush Senior was the last one termer.

The reason is that power has become so centralized and corrupt, they can't lose.

Looking at the political spectrum, perhaps only one party can win the Oval Office now.

I doubt either will be healthy enough to take a second run.

that better?

W 's invasion. Trump has never been able to produce a single article or report that he was against the war to take out Saddam. However, there is a recording of him being in favor or the war contained in a radio interview.
