Max Baucus is a BAD DEMOCRAT

Try getting a Kidney transplant in France if you are older than 60 or dialysis if you are older than 67.

Two things drive medical costs, technology and access, three, if you include lawyers. You have to limit at least one of those if you are going to hold down costs and usually all three. The US limits none of them in any meanigful way hence we have the highests medical costs in the world.

Under the French and Canadian systems they eliminated the lawyers but replaced them with bureaucrats.

We know that you people who favor for profit healthcare are brainwashed to believe what you are told.

I hear from Canadians and French people that their healthcare is wonderful. And their corporations don't have to pay for it so it makes them more competitive.

And try getting healthcare in America if you have a pre existing condition.

In America, people pay more for healthcare than they do their mortgage.

And technology is not the problem. We want them to move to computers. They're still pushing paper around.

And what sense does it make to have a middle man insurance company who's goal is to deny you care so they can make more profit? MAKES NO SENSE.

Single payer works. Look at your grandparents healthcare. Look at the healthcare the senators get. Its fucking great!!!

Max Baucus needs to be replaced. The insurance companies have gotten to him. And I think Obama realizes he won't be able to solve this problem.

And the lobbyists got to enough Dems that this won't get done. There may be some improvements made, but nothing signifigant.

govt health care is hideous. we will all be sorry in a few years.

And you know this how, exactly?

Hi Editec. I have a perfect story to illustrate how/why the Dems and better/different than the Republicans. ITS THE VOTERS!!!

Now this story will also explain how/why you are right too. Max Baucus clearly is owned by the insurance corporations. He won't let single payer have a seat at the table and now wants to tax us as a soluiton to the rising costs of healthcare. Imagine that? His solution to our problem of expensive healthcare is to raise our prices. :cuckoo:

Anyways, here is how/why there is a difference.

Baucus Battered By Voters For Health Care Stand

So maybe he will change his opinion now.

But would a Republican? No. Why not? Because Republicans wouldn't call and complain about this. And a Republican wouldn't care if a bunch of liberal democrats called him to complain because they didn't get him into office.

So Max might be trying to be no different than the GOP, but we won't allow it.

Now does this mean he's done fighting for the insurance companies? No. Is he the only Democrat that the insurance companies own? Nope. But there is zero chance of fixing this problem when/if Republicans are in charge. They probably deregulated something that allowed the insurance companies to raise their rates 199% since 2001.

And you see how Republicans on USMB feel about single payer. They defend the insurance companies. And they lie and mislead about other countries healthcare. They don't realize how bad our system is. Maybe they need to be denied care because of a pre existing condition before they'll get it.

Tuesday morning the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing regarding the future of healthcare in the United States featuring 15 witnesses, however, not a single witness was a supporter of single payer healthcare. Wanting their voices to be heard a number of doctors and advocates stood up at the start of the session and demanded a seat at the table and as they spoke they were immediately escorted out of the room and arrested by Capitol police.

The speakers who stood up were from the organizations Physicians for a National Health Program, Health Care Now, and Single Payer Action. Senator Max Baucus of Montana is the head of the Finance Committee and he is also the leading Democrat in the Senate to receive donations from health insurance companies. Baucus has received more than $400,000 from the companies and their employees.

[Baucus]: The whole point of this hearing and other hearings is to try and determine the best route and the best option for reforming our country's healthcare system.

Although Baucus said he respected the position of single payer advocates he didn't offer any of the physicians in the audience a seat at the table. President Barack Obama included supporters of single payer healthcare during his hearing in March.

A New York Times/CBS News poll released last week shows, yet again, that the majority of Americans support national health insurance.

The poll, which compares answers to the same questions from 30 years ago, finds that, “59% [of Americans] say the government should provide national health insurance, including 49% who say such insurance should cover all medical problems.”

Only 32% think that insurance should be left to private enterprise.

Max is the one who insisted on letting the insurance companies write the aca. And it was Romney/GOP individual mandate that said everyone has to buy in.

And Max didn't let single payer have a seat at the table.

is this sillybobo trying to show he is not partisan

Even though I am unhappy these things are happening, I like that it shows you the difference between people like me and people like you.

How many times do I have to tell you right wingers that I'm not so much pro democrat as I am anti GOP?

You're the partisan fool, not me.

And STILL the Dems are going to take us in the right direction. They'll help the middle class and it will only cost the rich a little more. But the GOP approach is to cost us in order for the rich to get richer. I could see why the GOP wins 50% of the elections if 50% of us were actually rich enough to be voting GOP, but you are not, my friend.

I'm not the guy who voted against Clinton/Gore despite the good job they did.

And I'm not the one who defended the GOP after they crashed our economy. Freddy Mack my ass.

I'm not the one that voted for Bush after he got hit on 9-11. But I was a sucker for Bush after 9-11. That lasted about 6 months. Then I realized they were practicing Desaster Capitalism.

And this is the way it is supposed to work. If this Max asshole starts acting like a Republican, we will call him out. Do you know where I heard about this? On AIR AMERICA RADIO!

Did you ever hear anything negative about the Republican party on Fox or Rush FIRST? No. They might talk about bad right wingers, but only after the story is already national news. And boy do they spin the story. We're calling Max out! He's a sellout bitch! Why would I protect him if he isn't working for us? Fuck Max and the Dems if they try to fuck us over. You need to be less loyal.

And Pelosi needs to go if she's involved in torture.

And Dodd tried to slip in bonus' to exec's? Not really a deal breaker, but makes me suspecious of him too.

And remember we gave the tele coms retroactive immunity? Rockafellor (D) was behind that. Democrat my ass.

Define the rich. I hear that all the time. Define it. Many demand that the top 1% pay more, but they never ever propose a tax increase on just the 1%. They also never address the 0.01%. Many seem to believe a small business owner that clears 200k is the same as Mark Zuckerberg.

I think you can look and see where you fall if you make $200k, have a family, etc.

I think people who make $200k think people who make less think you are rich. In other words you think you are one of them when you are really more like one of us. For example we know college for 2 kids is a strain on you too.

But I also think you're doing a hell of a lot better than the rest of us.

Also, if you aren't "rich" then you're an idiot. My dad made $13hr for 20 years and my mom was a medical biller for 20 years and they are rich. They have more money than they'll ever need provided we don't have to put ma in a home that costs $6k a month. If she lives 10 years there goes half their fortune.

Blame obama. He appointed baucus. If obama had spent one tenth of his time on single payer that he spent on the TPP and other trade giveaways started by bush, we might have had single payer. Most people didn't even know about the TPP going into the 2012 elections, and obama never let that cat out of the bag either. Obama may not have won that election if the democrats knew then what a backstabbing p.o.s. he was. hillary will be the same.

No doubt 200k is a very nice income in the Midwest, but you avoided my question and my main point. I do appreciate your response. Thanks. Feel free to address my questions.

Who put Baucus in charge of American Health care anyway? That guy has been in the pockets of the health care corps all along and made certain that SPC was off the table when Obama was looking for options. The reason Obamacare turned into such a clusterfuck was largely the responsibility of Baucus.

OK. Now what? They own the politicians. You've seen the Hillary donation list.
Now if only 90% of Americans would show up and vote every 2 years we could take this country back eventually.

I'm not rich, though I do own a company. The only reason I brought it up is the left is always whining about tax rates, and in the next breath mention the 1%. They never dare address the 1% or the 0.01% in their tax plans. It always slides down.

You claimed it would only cost the "rich" a little more.
