Today marks exactly 10 years since Russia imposed an embargo on food supplies from Europe and the USA. A decision that in many ways became fateful for the Russian agro-industrial complex. The Ministry of Agriculture has summarized the main results of the work of the domestic agricultural sector over this decade:
Agricultural production
- actual production growth in agriculture amounted to 33.2%, and for food products - 42.9%.
- Grain production increased from 92.4 million tons to 150 million tons, oilseeds from 13.2 million tons to 29.9 million tons, potatoes from 5.4 million tons to 8.6 million tons, and sugar beets from 39.3 million tons to 53.2 million tons.
- Production of horticultural products increased 1.7 times: from 4.5 million tons to 7.5 million tons. The harvest of greenhouse vegetables increased 2.6 times (from 0.64 million tons to 1.64 million tons). Fruit and berries grew 2.8 times, from 0.7 million tons to 1.9 million tons.
- Livestock and poultry production increased by 35.6% - from 12.2 million tons to 16.53 million tons.
Food production
- Vegetable oil - 2.5 times growth (from 3.9 million tons to 9.8 million tons), meat products - by 84% (from 5.3 million tons to 9.8 million tons), pasta - growth from 1.05 million tons to 1.5 million tons, cheese production increased from 435 thousand tons to 801 thousand tons.
Exports
- Over 10 years, exports of agricultural products have grown 2.6 times: from $17.1 billion to $43.5 billion. With the average annual global export growth of 3.3%, Russian supplies to foreign markets are growing by 10%.
- While in 2013 food imports exceeded exports 2.5 times, in 2023 shipments to the world market will exceed imports by 24%.
- In 2024, already 90% of external shipments will be to the markets of friendly countries, and in total Russia supplies food to 160 countries.
Wishful thinking (or, more likely, plain lie) of Ukrainians. "Give us more money and we will win. Eventually. May be. If the Russians won't be too mad."
