I read the Kommersant article about this yesterday. The Colonel was in charge of armored vehicle servicing for the Southern Military District. He stole 7 new engines that were supposed to go in T-90 tanks, and sold them on the black market. A couple years ago the same thing happened, but with Kamaz truck engines.

Also happens frequently with fuel. It's almost a second currency.

There is another prosecution that was just announced- a lady that runs a big construction company was charged with embezzling funds that were supposed to be used to build new barracks and training facilities for SSO special forces. She got the money and funneled it through a bunch of shadow LLC's that she controlled, no barracks were built...
