The Times Square website states, "Price’s multi-channel presentation on the screens and sculptural installation on the plaza below forms a two-part takeover in Times Square that foregrounds the intrinsic value of the individual and amplifies traditionally marginalized bodies on a monumental scale."

I get the desire to diversify the heroes given publicly funded recognition. But a statue of a hypothetical black woman honored for nothing more than being black, heavy and "unbothered?"

Exemplifies the condescending attitude behind DEI.

Doesn't New Nork have any great black women, past or present, who it could have honored? If not, there are many great black Texas women who achieved far more than just being comfortable with their excess fat.

The entire belief you have in white supremcy is fiction.

Here we have one of several statues of a white fictional character named Paul Bunyan.

They should erect a Thomas Jefferson Statue in Times Square. They can make it a two'fer by placing a Washington Statue with his arms around Jefferson.

The plaque can read, "America, fuck yeah!"

The statue of the fat black woman should be titled Women Of Waffle House. It is a homage to all the fat black women appearing in episodes of Wigs A Flying which entertains You Tube so much. Look at the talent in that statue. Those braids look like they could go soaring at any moment.

Taken in the proper context the statue belongs.

Wigs A Flying cracks Me up everytime.

Paul Bunyan is a fictionalized composite of men who actually existed AND made great contribution to America and thus the world.

The new statue in Times Square literally honors a fictionalized person for being content to be a failure.

Is that really a worthy role model for young blacks?

The tolerant left . . .

The statue is a fitting example of DEI

A fat chick with no resume’ being selected just because she’s black

Ad a white male i have to ask why this is an issue to anyone. Its going to be ok. You need to tell yourself this.
It's not an issue. I posted it for laughs.

It is a shame that they missed an opportunity to honor a black woman of achievement, such as Shirley Chissom, Barbara Jordan, one of the NASA calculatin' ladies, or someone less known, such as Elizabeth Gloucester, who was born a slave and became a New York Real Estate tycoon. Maybe if her statue said something snarky about Trump starting as a millionaire, while she started with literally less than nothing, you'd be happy with it?

Anyway, If I ridicule what they did choose to display in Times Square, it is only because the statue is ridiculous, and - but for the left's propencity to effusively praise anything politically correct - would only be considereed merit-worthy in a sophomore art class in a heavily DEI college.

So lighten up, Francis. If humor at the expense of the absurd lefties of today offends you, bet hit that ignore button.

When we get to pure survival, people will gravitate to those who will help keep them alive and work with an educated resolve for the group. A truism.

I get the desire to highlight people who are often overlooked, but I do think it’s important that the focus stays on the achievements and contributions of these individuals. If we want to honor someone, it might be better to choose someone with a history of real impact.

Its ok. The MAGA states literally raped hundreds of thousands of slaves.
