The evidence showed that the percentage of shootings with rifles is going down. That's small consolation for the school children when the rate of shootings is going up.


Yippee, you have 1000 mass shootings last year and only 500 were with rifles! 50%.

The AR-15 is the M-16 without auto and that's the military's choice for the job.

It's the same job as for mass shooters who are interested in high scores.

Why does the military choose the AR-15/M16? What does it do that your other choices don't do as effectively.

The military picked the M-16 because it was lighter than the M-14 and troops could carry more ammo. They knew it was far less lethal than the 7.62mmx51 caliber M-14 that it replaced. The Ruger Mini-14 operates identically, uses the same capacity magazines or larger. The FN/FAL and the M-1A both use twenty round magazines as standard. The M-1A also uses twenty five round magazines. The FN/FAL uses magazines ranging from twenty rounds to fifty rounds. The Galil uses a standard thirty five round magazine and can accommodate fifty round magazines.
The M-1A, FN/FAL and Galil are far more lethal than the AR-15. All three are far more reliable than the Colt. The Galil uses a modified AK-47 action.

The FN/FAL was the preferred military rifle for nearly a hundred nations and most of NATO.
