A new poll shows that recent scandals haven't hurt President Barack Obama's approval rating.

The poll, from CNN and ORC International, found that 53 percent of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing, while 45 percent disapprove. This number remains virtually unchanged from polls taken before the scandals hit.

The poll was taken on May 17 and 18, and has a 3 percent margin of error.

A CNN poll taken in early April showed Obama's approval rating to be 51 percent. According to a Gallup poll taken in early May, the president's approval rating was 50 percent.

The CNN poll also found that 71 percent of Americans believe the actions of the IRS employees who targeted tea party groups were unacceptable. However, 6 in 10 respondents said they trusted the president's statements on the issue.

It's good to see that Americans aren't the suckers that wingnuts would like them to be.

Most of this country simply don't care. They don't care about 4 dead Americans; They don't care about the justice department breaking into the AP and they certainly don't give a damn about the IRS fucking over 10 million Americans out of their personal information.

Nothing fucking matters. Sad day.

People owe Nixon a big sorry...Oh yes the tiny break in was against the democratic party.

We're as bad as Mexico now.

Oh really? And I'm supposed to take a poll conducted by a left leaning news organization seriously?

An approval rating hasn't meant much in politics for a long time.

So 10,000,000 Americans can get their records stolen and conservative groups can be focused on.
The AP can be broken into by force of law
4 Americans can be blown away

Nope nothing matters.

Well of course not, those who dislike him only get confirmation of their dislike, and those who do like him only see it as another partisan attempt to knock him down a peg, and those who neither like nor dislike him are apathetic to the political process. So no, it really doesn't surprise me his numbers are unaffected.

And with the average attention span of most Americans this will all be forgotten in a week or so.

4 diplomats > tens of thousands of enlisted men/women?

Yeah, the whole nation understands.

Well, Bush got away with it...

Lakota, this poll proves one or two things:

Either the poll is completely true and free of factual bias, implying that the United States is suffering from "tyranny of the majority," who want minorities to be persecuted by Big Gov.

Or:
This is the most bogus poll ever created.

Or:
Both.
