A gun pointed at his gut, the off-duty sheriff's sergeant digs through his pockets with his left hand, fumbling for money, as the three robbers surround him at the Far South Side gas station.

The sergeant is surer with his right hand, quickly drawing his own gun and firing point-blank.

Job well done for the off duty officer. A civilian would have reacted in the same manner. We all have a right to protect ourselves and our personal property. He did what he had to do.

I hope they catch the other two suspects before they attempt to rob another victim.

He could have easily nailed the other two- in the back. Educated and trained gun-owners know better.

Tens of thousands of Illinoisans are expected to receive their concealed-carry permits this year (me included). It is going to be very interesting to see what crime stats do over the next few years.

Hard to tell from the video but I do hope the shooter was white so Al and Jesse and the other race pimps can oil up the wheels on the Trayvon Martin bandwagon.
