Back in 1952* I had just started in a volunteer fire department in Massachusetts. One of the first calls (mutual aid) was to Westport where a family of nine perished in a winter fire. Scary impressive at my then young age. Now the same house and another death:
Fire in Westport kills 4-year-old child
Let's hope this time the building is torn down and nothing ever again built on the site!
* I have confirmed the date from an online history of The Westport Fire Department website:
"November 14, 1952 – 8 Children and 1 Adult perish in a fire on Mt. Pleasant St. This is the greatest loss of life in a single fire in the history of the Westport Fire Dept.:"
