Surprisingly, people die all the time from atheistic or drug overdoses in hospitals every day. What makes McClain special? Because "racism bad" thing?

clearly hospitals need to exercise utmost care in anesthetic and drug administration. my experience had been that the nurses who bring the drugs are competent and responsible but the potential for mistakes (and malfeasance) must be minimized.
