Foam Party Rubio, America's biggest loser, who quit on his constituency mid-term and has been embarrassed out of ever running for political office again, is desperately trying to cling to relevancy by using his delegates to betray the will of the people he once swore to represent. Little boy Rubio should do the right thing and ask his delegates to support the candidate who, and this is a novel concept to the GOP establishment, actually wins the majority of votes in the election!

What a joke.

This is quite the run for the presidency.
Oh well, I'll just cling to my Bible and my guns golf clubs and call it good till it all crashes under it's massive debt.

Wow. Just wow. Just the other day Kasich was saying that Trump and Cruz should get behind him because he's the only one that can beat Hillary.

Cue Twilight Zone music.

Sorry but you need to educate yourself on how the nomination process works before the convention. I am afraid many of you are going to be very disappointed. You see, the nominee has to have 1,237 delegates to win the nomination. If Trump doesn't have them it doesn't matter if he has the most. The uncommitted delegates are released and there is a second ballot... if no one gets the required 1,237 on the second ballot, it goes to a third and so on.

In 1860, the person with the most delegates going into the convention was populist, William Seward, but he failed to get the required 1,237 and it went to a second ballot. Finally, on the third ballot, the firebrand Senator from Illinois, Abe Lincoln, won the GOP nomination. So.... it happens sometimes. It's NOT the party ignoring the will of the people, it's the system the party established long ago to nominate a candidate and it will be followed this year as it always has been.

Trump supporters may not like how this turns out but hey... that's the reason you don't alienate your rivals to the point they can't support you anymore. You got too cocky and lost sight of the big picture. You started trashing and insulting people for no reason and it's going to cost you with the delegate count at the convention.

All fine and dandy but all hell is going to break loose over a nomination of a Kasich or a Ryan or a Romney. Senators and Congress critters can expect an enormous back lash. And voters are clearly aware that the Republican Party now really doesn't give a good God damn what voters think or want. Before it was highly suspected but this bullshit over stop Trump has really nailed it.

"A majority of Republican voters are on Trump's side – 57 percent say he should win the nomination with a plurality of delegates. "

Trump hits record high in new poll with 48 per cent support

I agree, if the Establishment try to force someone besides Cruz, it's the end of the GOP. However, a "plurality" has NEVER been the standard for nomination and there is a very good reason for that. We had 17-18 candidates running in this thing. There are lots of uncommitted delegates out there. Those people represent voting Americans. We don't change the rules that have been in place since 1860 because of some fucking poll. I'm sorry people are uneducated on the process, maybe they will become educated through this?

As it stands, Trump lacks the delegates to win the nomination. If Cruz wins California, which he very well CAN do, then the race is essentially a dead heat. If the uncommitted delegates go to Cruz he can win the nomination on the second or third ballot the same as Lincoln did in 1860. Lots of things still have to play out but Trump doesn't have the nomination in the bag and Cruz can certainly prevail as the eventual nominee, legitimately and by the rules.

Try and imagine this scenario - Trump runs as a third party candidate, Hillary wins a plurality but not a majority of the electoral college, and the election goes to the Republican House. By Trump's supporters' logic, the Republican House should vote for Hillary to be President even though she lost a majority in the electoral college because she won a plurality.

Why is 1237 the number? What is so magic about 1237? Who arrived at that number and why? What is the history behind it?

There are 2472 delegates at the convention. 1237 is the majority.

The Republican nominee has always been selected by a majority of the delegates at the national convention.

OK, that is half way explaining it.

Why 2472 delegates? Has it always been 2472? According to Boss, it was the same number 150 years ago. Why is that particular number seems to be carved in New Hampshire granite?

guys a douche, but he's just doing what he's told.

the insiders want trump and cruz to lose. kash has no chance on his own, but if all the losers pass their dels to him and neither trump or cruz have over 1200, they can backdoor and put up whatever lose they want

that will actually end the gop, but those in power must cling to it.

on a side note and as a clue to the left, top gopers are saying it better to vote for hillary than trump. That's a hint that she's establishment and will make things worse.

There is a formula for awarding delegates to each state, depending on the size of the Congressional delegation and the success of the Republican Party in each state. This is set well before the process begins.

Bullshit. Everyone of you sheep will still pull the lever for the straight pube ticket no matter what.

That's probably going to be the funniest thing I read all day, unless of course I click on one of Staph's posts.

You just want Trump to get the nomination so that Clinton wins in November.
