I doubt they will ever be anything close to a superpower, but Europe is starting to at least wake up to the reality that 1) Russia is a threat and 2) the US isn't going to be your savior.

Unmanned drones seem to be the way to go. That's how Ukraine has been able to bloody Putin's nose on land and at sea. Buildings on fire in Moscow and flag warships sent to the bottom of the Black Sea. The key is don't let Russia throw its weight around without consequences.

Russia is completely self reliant and self supporting when required , but rather than expand territory they want another 100 million plus citizens of the right calibre through controlled immigration . Russia was never a superpower. It was a third world shithole with a second world military plus nukes. It could never even feed its own people or develop its own tech. The KGB spent more time on industrial espionage than it did on real spy work.

So Russia deliberately targeting random civilians is a positive thing in your sick world. Ukraine is at least trying to fight a “clean” war and avoid civilian collateral damage.
