There is any interesting discussion going on over at Mitt Romney Central; the poll posted there proposes the following hypothetical:

Romney does not run in 2012. There are four candidates who have composed formal campaigns to win the GOP nomination – Huckabee, Palin, Gingrich, and Pawlenty. You are standing in the booth, ballot in hand. Who do you cast it for? Sorry no write-ins here. (Of course this poll is aimed at Romney supporters, but if you are not among them feel free to vote up your candidate.)

I wanted to see what y'all thought about this hypothetical... please reply with sound reasons why or why not a particular candidate would be good or bad for a run against Obama in 2012 (2011)

Petraeus?

I would have liked to have seen Petraeus as an option, as well.... Heaven knows that most these other guys don't know much about the conflict overseas. However, since he hasn't formally launched a PAC to start any sort of fundraising, I'm not sure he intends on running for any office. I suppose the purpose of the poll at Mitt Romney Central was limiting it to those that are believed to actually run against Obama next election. (although, I highly doubt Newt will, and even Huckabee seems like a maybe to me.)

Pawlenty. Although i really do think Romney would be a great option for 2012. A somewhat Conservative successful businessman is exactly what this nation needs at this point. Right now we have a bunch of inept Neo-Marxist Socialists running things which they know nothing about. Most of these people have never even held real jobs in their entire lives. Most are either career politicians or career academics. Romney actually has some real experience in running successful businesses and isn't a Neo-Marxist Socialist so i think he would be the logical choice in 2012. Pawlenty is a good man though and i could consider him as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for your post. :)

I would have no problems voting for Palin--Gingrich or Huckabee. Any of them would be better than what we have right now.

If Romney doesn't run I will do what I did in the last election and write him in! But If I had to pick between the four I would go with Pawlenty, he is a good fiscal conservative!

However, I like possible candidates like Michael Steele! I also like Meg Whitman, the former CEO of ebay, who brought the company from $4.7 mil to $7.7 bil!

Huckabee: A fairtax man, you have to love that! However, he seems very naive, doesn't believe in evolution and the how I/P situation would explode.

Palin: Although she has strong supporters, she would be the left's dream pick because Obama's dog would beat her. Palin is way too stupid for the job and has way to many holes for me!

Newt: I just don't like something about him!

I like your insight... I think Michael Steele would be a great alternative should Romney up and die abruptly. I like Meg, too--- of course, let's hope she just makes it as Cali Gov. so she can endorse Romney in the primaries.

NOTA.

Pawlenty is a career squish and Juan McQuisling ass spelunker.

I think Meg is foresure victory on CA. She will run on her knowledge of the economy and making money. Californians will want an economic genius to turn around the 2nd highest unemployment amongst the states!

Palin....PLEASE..

I'm for Romney at this point.
Although I do like Huckabee. He's definitely an honest man with executive experience.
Palin? No way. Just don't think she has the experience necessary. As we are seeing with the clown now in office, lack of experience is a disaster.
Pawlenty? I see him more as a great VP choice.
Newt? Sure, why not?

Huckabee is an anti-evolutionist rightwing populist. He has a social conscience. I would vote for him.

Petraeus?

Sinatra...do you know how to read?

I don't like any of them, including Romney.

Any of them would make a fine VP choice, but at this point none have shown me any indication that they are ready for the big chair.

If I had to choose one, it would be Gingrich.

Hopefully someone else will rise to the challenge.

He is the biggest partisan hack of the bunch. He is a self-serving media whore.

Huckabee believes the earth is only a few thousand years old and we were "shimmered" into being from dirt by an invisible spirit who had to "rest" after creating 400 billion TRILLION visible stars. Odd that. That the same magical spirit made so many dead worlds. Were they mistakes?

Yea, I think he would make a thoughtful and intelligent president.
