SEE: Tackling the National Debt: A Call for Fiscal Responsibility

.
In the article we find:

10. Engage Congress to Pass Budgetary Reforms

While executive branch actions are critical, Congress plays a key role in addressing the national debt. The President should:

• Advocate for a Balanced Budget Amendment: Work with Congress to propose a constitutional amendment requiring balanced federal budgets.

The current national debt (not including unfunded debt liabilities) is $ 36 TRILLION, which now draws over $1 TRILLION in annual interest payments taken from the U.S. taxpayer's federal treasury. Seems abundantly clear there is an enormous annual profit to be realized by those who invest in Congress’s irresponsible spending, which leads to Congress’s borrowing.

America's taxpayers have been made into taxed slaves to those who thrive by investing in Congress's reckless borrowing. So, when do the people call upon the President to advocate for an effective balanced budget amendment which essentially stops Congress from adding to the national debt year after year?

Yep, I've been complaining regularly about this for years and many others have complained also.............(when their party isn't in power)
What sucks is I fell for Reagan's lies and voted for him in 1980 and all he did was increase spending. He had the committee to reduce government waste, fraud, and debt spending, which went nowhere.

Every one from Jimmy Carter on to now have been advocating it. I even seen protest signs at the Jan 6 protest advocating it.
It will be up to us the regular citizen to get it done. As I have said, it works for Florida it should work for the nation.

True. But Reagan didn't disregard the Grace Commission's recommendations to cut "waste, fraud, and abuse", it was congress who liked their cash cows. Congress controls the purse. Reagan's military buildup caused the collapse of the USSR, which was a very good thing.

You're older than I pictured from your posts!

I voted for Reagan also but I was 19 and didn't understand how corrupt it all is yet.

Nothing passes without the president signing off on it.

Reagan had nothing to do with the dissolution of the USSR, as the satellite nations(Soviet Block) did along with perestroika and then Glasnost:
What prompted the collapse of the Soviet Union?

Gorbachev's decision to allow elections with a multi-party system and create a presidency for the Soviet Union began a slow process of democratization that eventually destabilized Communist control and contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union.

I voted for Reagan, twice and I don't regret any of it. It is on Congress to balance the budget, and the Soviet Union and it's evil was destroyed because of Reagan.

Line Item Veto along with a balanced budget would be an answer.

Carter here in 1976 I was 18. I did like Ford a lot and wished we had more like these two gentalman in politics. I voted Regan in 1984 election.

Reagan did not destroy the Soviet Union he wasn't in office when they ended it.

In which year did communist rule end in Russia?

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was formally dissolved as a sovereign state and subject of international law on 26 December 1991 by Declaration № 142-Н of the Soviet of the Republics of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union.

I made the same mistake.

I didn’t fall for the same scam when Bush and Trump were peddling it.

Fifty years of experience clearly shows that trickle down econo, mics is a political myth, and you cannot tax cut your way to a balanced budget.

It has been tried for the last forty years yet, nothing.
Are you currently participating in any activities to remedy the problem which is, Congress not being effectively prohibited under rule of law to add to the national debt year after year?

Line item veto was considered to be unconstitutional along with term limits, why, A "line item veto" was considered unconstitutional because it allowed the President to unilaterally change specific parts of a bill passed by Congress, violating the "Presentment Clause" of the Constitution which states that the President can only sign or veto a bill in its entirety, not amend individual sections; this was ruled on in the Supreme Court case "Clinton v. City of New York" in 1998

Go away, idiot. The collapse of the Soviets was accomplished directly by his policies and actions.

Your leftwing extremism is of no concern to Me.

Russia's internal politics should never have been any of our concern. We have wasted billions and billions and billions of dollars addressing it and what have we accomplished?

Nothing.

I fell for the trickle down con in 1980.

I voted for Reagan again in ‘84, hoping his program would actually begin to work. At that point, all it had rr]rally accomplished was a vast increase in Federal debt. Interest rates and unemployment remained stubbornly high.

Salvation came in the Spring of 1985. And it had nothing to do with Reagan. The western economies began to recover because Saudi Arabia announced that it would no longer cut its own production in order to prop up the OPEC posted price.

Oil prices collapsed,

Which fed economic recovery in the west, and drained the Soviet treasury of hard currency.
