The new tactic democrats are using is that Trump's tariffs are against the law and that only Congress can issue tariffs, not the president by himself. So, of course, democrats have presented several legal challenges against Trump imposing tariffs without the consent of Congress. Now, if I remember correctly, presidents have been imposing tariffs for centuries, including recently with Joe Biden and now, all of a sudden, presidential tariffs are illegal? The precedent has already been set many times over hundreds of years and no one has ever challenged it until TDS infected half the country.

Biden increased tariffs on China, so the Dems can't make that argument.

The argument would be the absolutely insane and comical size and scope of the tariffs, the abject chaos it has caused in world markets, the loss of America's worldwide credibility, the loss of trading partnerships and global influence America has nurtured over the last 80 years, the global flight away from the dollar, Treasuries and our stock market, and the end of America as the most important and trusted country in the world.

But none of that is against the law, as far as I know. It's just either gross incompetence or an attempt to bring us down so that we can supposedly rise from the ashes in the leader's image, which the world has seen before in its history (particularly Europe, which suffered greatly for it).

It didn't work out very well in the past, as most of us know.

They are doing Wall Streets bidding. They would have happily supported funding Germanies war machine 80 years ato as long as their sons wouldnt have to join the fight. This is long overdue, the time is now and the world is ready to talk and side with America over China. America needs to stay the course and not listen to people looking for short term gains while hurting their nation and risking millions of lives by propping up an authoritarian government that is expanding militarily. This is why I said Trump should have addressed the nation and outlined the situation but he doesnt want to upset Chinas leaders. His supporters have his back, well over half the country.

Strict Constitutionalists might point out that only Congress is given the authority to impose tariffs.

Congress gave that authority to the president.

How Congress delegates its tariff powers to the president

nO diss to Indepedent, but his OP was light on specifics .... nevertheless, I think congress has passed legislation abdicating its power. But then I'm light on specifics too. So.....

Past precedence isn't important anymore. The Stotus doesn't follow established law, it decides matters on what is politically expedient. That can be in Trump's favour or against his wishes.

Lately it's becoming more likely that the Scotus is finding safe footing when deciding against Trump.

The Scotus will ensure their solid ground footing before everything blows up for Maga.

When did I do that? Post examples

Cause ya know… ya lie a lot
It would be easier if you just posted a link to a pro-Trump post you made. Then you can shove it in my face. But, I made it easy for you. I saved you the trouble of finding even one post because you don't have any.

Lol. I am consistently ANTI-Trump.

I thought you were claiming I changed positions.

You’re so confused

The laws which created the various tariffs give the President the power to raise/lower them when he believes it is necessary to do so.
This power has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
