Republicans want Musk to shut up about Social Security

Not at all.
I know what SS is all about. And believe it is a VERY needed entity, but not for retirement income. For that - it is an utter disaster,
It is not meant to be the sole answer
Along with a 401k, a paid off house it provides a good solution

The interim director is now threatening to turnSocial Security off, and deny employees access to their work.

Yesterday, a court ordered SSA NOT to share your personal data, your bank account numbers, pr your social security number to Elon Musk”s dumpster divers.

So, the Trump regieme is trying to break the law once again, and bully their way to do it.
Social Security numbers were originally never to be used for anything except social security. Around the same time credit cards came to importance. We need social security numbers and credit cards to do most everything to live today. And the government knows all of this.

Have the Democrats ever accused the Republican of wanting to stop social security before?
Yea, about 1000 times.

Indeed, but that is not Americans. That is not what Americans do - consider their future.
Most Americans have a negative net worth.
THAT is the problem.
I assume you have looked at 401k average balances - it is pathetic.

And without Social Security, those workers would have nothing.
Before Social Security, you worked until you died or needed your children to take care of you

For telling the truth?
I haven't heard any of Trump's sucklings in Congress tell the truth in ages.

If you are 67 years old right now and all of the money you paid into social security, instead went into investments that are stable, only averaging 5% - you would have almost $4,000,000.
The average return since the 1980s is actually 11.6%. But you wouldn't do that well likely. So even if you did quite bad considering, only earning 5%.
The Social Security fund was drained a long time ago by Congress, and was given IOU's in return.

Nevertheless, I have said many times the only way to make SS whole again is to raise the retirement age to 70 and index it to 9 percent of the population.

The over-65 population in 1935 was 5.4%. Today, it is 16 percent and climbing.

We are living longer, we should be working longer.

Common fricking sense.

‘Senate Republicans want Elon Musk to stop talking about Social Security
Musk is an egomaniac. Just because he knows a little about cars and rockets, he thinks he knows everything about everything.

As does his co-president.

We "live longer" for two reasons. Infant mortality is much lower now then 100 years ago (which impacts average life), and because of medical treatments that have extended life. Not that people can work longer, they just live longer.

Go ahead, make people work longer, we will see substantial increases in disability.

Almost like it was planned that way, huh?

Elon Musk is trying to get his grubby little hands on both.

Republicans just like democrats know SS is the third rail of politics

Common stupidity.
To think that a 68 year old can do the same production as a 28 year old, is...well... retarded.
Yes, we can perform other roles that do not require as much production, but no company has a need for 10% or more of it's employees are this old.
Then you consider the many, many people who work in physical labor. By age 60, a person loses about 30% of their core strength. And then they also lose significant balance. Not only making it impossible to perform at levels they once did, but dangerous also.
Today the last "ism" that truly exist is ageism. Who in the hell is going to hire a 65 year old when behind them is 6 30 year olds? - No one.
On paper - it is the perfect solution.
After applying even marginal critical thinking, it is the worst solution.

They won't because they can't. It would be political suicide for anyone.
The system is too large and millions depend on it, even with it being outrageously inefficient and literally steals money from people on a regular basis in the form of the millions who pay in, and never see a dime because they die before retirement.
It is an enormous failure. But, nevertheless, millions would be homeless and starving without it because it is all they have.

It's insurance.

Why bother with healthcare insurance? You might never get out of it what you put in.

Seeing how you have to pay 15% for insurance companies, and another 20% for corruption and whatever, literally less than 50% of what you spend actually goes on health insurance.

So, you're liable to be paying double what you should.

So let's not bother, just die before it becomes and issue...
