RIP hot lips Hulihan

RIP Loretta Swit

Wow, I can't believe I missed this until now.

Swit was an unknown (to me) when she took over for TV MASH but always did a serviceable portrayal of Sally Kellerman.

Her character was hilarious quite a number of times, particularly with Frank Burns.

All that leaves left of the original cast now is Radar O'Reilly and Alan Alda.

Jamie Farr (Klinger) is still alive. That said, his name didn't get recognition in the intro until later in the series.

Yeah, I actually have been watching some of the early episodes again for a while and noticed that. The Klinger character appeared only once in the 1st season, briefly for a two second cameo, but they did not bring him back and begin using him regularly until towards the end of the 2nd season.

They had lost so many characters, the little Korean boy who used to wait on Hawkeye and Trapper, the anesthesiologist Ugly John, the black dude who used to be a third background surgeon there, and finally, a black girl who was a regular nurse, plus they stopped using a few other nurses like Lt. Dish and Marcie Staussman (she became Kotter's girlfriend in Welcome Back Kotter), that they had to strengthen a few new characters, Klinger being one and the Father Malcahy being the other.

So you are right, Alda, Farr, and Gary Burghoff are all that's left of the original cast, who was the only carryover from the original motion picture.
