The big knock against Romney seems to be he's no different from Obama when it comes to social issues like abortion and health care.

Guess the left wants to be able to criticise and support social issues at the same time.

A republican that supports choice and health care mandates is bad.

A democrat that supports them is good.

I guess it all depends on your political party.

The point is....Romney is trying to fit in with the anti-woman wave that is currently hitting the Republican party. He seems to think that is the way to go. How sad is that?

Ok. I would expect Romney to say something about not funding abortions or some such statement. But to completely de-fund Planned Parenthood is just a stupid move politically. Just because a woman is against abortion, doesn't mean she is also against prenatal care and cancer screenings.

Depends on what he replaces it with. Personally, I think the states should be delivering such programs, not the federal government.... and I suspect that Romney thinks likewise.

I think it is called a J-O-B and being thrifty and setting priorities and not thinking you can run up your CC's to vaca in Cancun and buy an Escalade and an Iphone 4 unless you actually can afford those things on your own income.

Anyone who's working minimum-wage is in a full-time job, thus they have health coverage through the company. It's the part-timers and jobless that mostly need Planned Parenthood.

Now I suspect that women can buy their own birth control devices--as they have been doing it for decades now. I pay for my own screenings and physicals. And if Planned parenthood is dropped off the radar--I imagine it will be the abortion side of the issue.

We already have medicade programs that take care of the poor women--who are more than eligible to get FREE medical screenings and lots of other goodies.

Why on earth do we need to DUPLICATE programs?

Obamacare is going to eliminate Planned Parenthood in 2014.

The point is: Do you want to BORROW money from China to fund Planned Parenthood when we already have programs for the poor--that would include the exact same services that Planned Parenthood does?

His wording was terrible. The govt has no role in shutting down legit businesses. He should have simply said we need to defund it and let it compete in the free market with all the other non subsidized health care companies.
