Appointments are made by the POTUS, the Senate only confirms or does not confirm. If a Federal judicial position is vacant, it's vacant, and the POTUS can nominate someone to fill the vacancy.

The only way to remove a Federal judge is by impeachment.

I scrolled through the last 200 confirmations, going back to September. Only 2 were judges. They both passed by a recorded vote 49-47.

A quorum is a majority of the Senate- i.e. 51 Senators present. A 49-47 vote is a majority yea, and that's all it takes to confirm a nominee.

I do not see any Senate rule that allows for rescinding a confirmation vote. Passing legislation to that effect sounds like an ex post facto law to me...

McConnell and Schumer made a deal. Repubs wouldn't block the District Court appointments, and Dems would leave the Appeals Court appointments for Trump.

Doesn't work that way. Once they are confirmed, it a lifetime appointment. They would each individually have to be impeached, for cause.
