Self-service Restaurants?

Self-service Restaurants?

I am a Vietnam Veteran and I spent my one week "R & R" in Tokyo in 1966. Self-service restaurants (pluck in a coin just like a Coca Cola machine) and also conveyor-belt menus with plastic models to choose from that rotate around the restaurant were already in use there. Is it a good thing? Hell if I know.

The reason why fast food is losing a lot of jobs is because of automation.

Not really. I drive by that 'automated McDonald's
they were all gushing over a while back; it has more employees than the 'regular' one a couple of miles away. Half the time they have to have a human outside taking orders in the drive thru lane. lol

I do not agree. Promoting good workers is what is lacking. Wages that do not provide enough to live on just makes black jobs, and crime worth having.
The federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr.

Most places have a higher minimum. I can speak for my state, most places pay higher than the state minimum.

With that said, your opinion is contrary to KNOWN FACTS about supply and demand labor curves, and how they operate in the labor market. It is a denial of reality.

. . . you are welcome to "not agree," but your opinion is not based on the facts.

As far as crime goes? Your argument is just as valid about crime in a market WITH a minimum as without. It is again, a denial of reality.

Btw the kiosk at Steak N Shake was malfunctioning tonight. That just goes to show how reliable technology is. 🙄

This came up in my other topic about tips. What do you guys think about this? On one hand I do believe that it's convenient, but on the other hand I think that's people basically saying that they don't want to work anymore so they bring in the machines.
We had them in the 1960s.

They were called "automats".
