After two recent incidents that saw serious passenger injuries and one death, some "experts" think we could be in for more bumpy rides in the future.
The type of turbulence that affected the Singapore Airlines flight, however, is a type that is hard to identify or predict. Called “Clear Air Turbulence,” it’s a type of disruption to the jet streams at high altitudes where commercial aircraft cruise. It doesn’t show up on radar, and often pilots’ only indication they may be passing through an area of Clear Air Turbulence might be radio reports from other aircraft in the vicinity.
Climate change could be contributing to an increase in clear air turbulence incidents. Clear Air Turbulence is made worse by a higher temperature differential between hot and cold air colliding at altitude. The bigger the temperature differential, the more severe the turbulence, and warming air near the earth’s surface can translate into higher differentials at higher altitudes, where atmospheric temperatures have remained steadier.
Claiming climate change is just down right bullshit, it usually isn't a surprise if the Captain is doing his job, clear air turbulence (CAT) is at the boundary of the jet stream.
The media has to keep the climate change narrative going somehow so the gullible don't lose interest.....Then there's the grift involved.
Clean Air Turbulence wasn't anything else but CAT before Al Gore discovered global
More storms? Climate change.
Less storms? Climate change.
Erectile dysfunction? Trump's fault.
