Should politicians be required to accept Obama-care for themselves and their families? Or is that only for the peasants?

Only for peasants. The Rich and powerful can get medical insurance and never notice the costs, the poor can get Medicaid and/or Medicare, it's only those people in the middle class that feel the pain of Obamacare.

Only people in the middle class who expect taxpayers to pick up the cost of their medical expenses when they get very sick or banged up "feel the pain".

Good. This taxpayer was tired of carrying them.

They should have to live with everything they pass.

They can use Obamacare to pay for their gunshot wounds because they should not be carrying guns.

Sounds fair. Do you know of any reason they can't buy their insurance from the exchanges?

There is this gene that most of us have that prevents us from doing really stupid things....well, most of us.

I think that is the reason they "can't".

It would set a good example. But they don't, for the same reason anyone who has employer-provided health insurance doesn't:

Health Care for Members of Congress?

Exactly. We pick the best insurance plan we can afford, regardless of where find it. Now people who have previously been unable to afford any plan have affordable options. They're the ones who the exchanges are for.

The rich people we vote for and send to Washington can afford the best, so they buy the best Cadillac plans for themselves and their families. What difference it makes whether they get then through the exchanges or not?

^As the information at the link indicates, federal employees, whether its your Congressman or your mail carrier, have employer-provided health insurance. A Congressman's premiums are 72% provided by the U.S. government. In a sense, they've already gone through the exchanges and gotten their subsidies.

Members of Congress are.

(D)Members of Congress in the Exchange
