Snow Report

Yup. Sierra Nevada mountains. You flatlanders have no clue.

Let me tell you, the altitude took me out first time. We flew into Denver, drove to Estes Park, got about three hours of sleep and then went to 11,500 feet. My friend had to walk me to the lookout. Dizzy, weak, worst headache of my life.

When my fam went back to Denver a few years later, We stayed a night in Denver and a night in Estes Park before going into the mountains. No problems that way.

Been to Colorado a few times. One of the greatest mind fucks was 1985'ish. We were there for Christmas. It snowed for Christmas, beautiful white. A few days later, temps got up to 60ish. We took a drive through the mountains and went through the Eisenhower tunnel. On the east side, it was a beautiful day, snow still in the mountains, but no precipitation of any kind. However, there were signs warning that cars without 4 Wheel Drive need to turn around on the other side. My aunt and uncle said, wait till we get to the other side.

As we came through the west side of the tunnel and came out, it was a literal blizzard, white out. Holy Shit, it was like we drove to another world. I was about 10 at the time and was one of the coolest experiences to date.

Denver has the WILDEST weather. Literally a blizzard and then two days later, 70 degrees.

Here in the Mitten State, we are socked in with cloud cover Nov-April. Until so few years ago I hate to admit it, I genuinely thought this was just winter--for everyone. But no, it's the lakes. Some people have winter with sun. Like Denver.

Yup. We have an area we call "The Washoe Triangle" it's the valley between Reno and Carson City. It can be sunny in both cities, but a blizzard in between.

Sheesh, we will get that in the same day!

How much snow do you have?

Here in lower Georgia we have 6 inches. No snow plows and salt is for the BBQ grill and ice cream makers.
We aren't going anywhere for a bit.

I was expecting it to spit a bit and quit and then melt off....
That ain't what happened.

I ain't seen the road in a few hours now.
My boss is expecting me to go to Tallahassee tomorrow, by way of Warner Robins and Tifton. I told him I have my doubts

That damn global warming!...lol

Tomorrow MIGHT be possible. Depending on how warm it gets today. If it gets warm enough the roads might melt off. The sun is out so there's a chance.

I hope so.....I got places to go myself.

Well us northerners know: your sun is stronger there. Michiganders go to Florida in Feb, "it's not that hot, I probably don't need sunscreen!" --WRONG

So yeah, the sun should help

So far.....nada. I can see tracks in the snow where the road is....(I live on the main street in this town)
But it's early yet. No sign of asphalt whatsoever.

And in this kind of stuff.....
SUNGLASSES ARE NEEDED.
You will get snowblinded if you don't wear them. All those UV rays will burn your eyes worse than any lake or ocean.

I hope so, too. We're off today, which required me to burn a vacation day to get paid.

My wife is grumbling about remote work now....
No snow days when you literally walk from the bedroom to the office down the hall in your slippers and robe.

I got weather days all the time as I worked construction. Can't hide out inside when you are building the building.
"Heat is in the tools"....HA! We used gun oil on pliers so they would stop freezing up.

Skynyrd was from Florida you know.

Right now, my area doesn't have any for the most part, but we did get about four inches almost two weeks ago. It came down on Friday, January 10th.

God bless you always!!!

Holly
Currently it's in the teens for Temps outside. I'm thinking you are likely colder than that.

Keep warm!
