The Harris campaign came out with a lot of great economic policy initiatives that make Candidate Harris a very attractive presidential candidate but also came out with quite a few policy initiatives that play right into the hands of right-wing Republicans that will paint Kamala Harris as a radical or dangerous tax and spend Democrat.

Great policy initiative to bring back the American Rescue Plan policy of increasing the child tax credit to $3600 it will raise a lot of children out of poverty for a very prosperous country we Americans should not be okay with so many children growing up impoverished; on the enabling legislation as a politically center right American I hope its conditioned on a recipient either working twenty hours a week, going to school or due to health reasons unable to work, this concern not something to really worry about for there is enough members of Congress from both parties that are against freeloading and unfairness that this result will probably prevail. Similarly, the $6K child credit for the first year after a child is born is solidly good policy the first year burdens on these families warrant such help. Great policy with the up to $25,000 help on down payments and $10,000 credit for first time home buyers, America has been and works best as a country where it helps ordinary Americans accumulate wealth or "to get ahead" using the current lingo, and home ownership is a tried and true means of building wealth. The ancillary policy of tax credits to help builders of lower priced housing for first time home buyers is great if you don't do something like this the former policy will be utter meaningless as it will just raise the price of first-time buyer homes. The other connected policy though is a policy blunder creating a $40 billion housing innovation fund will be considered another Democrat expensive spending program that after the money is spent the country sees little long term benefit, it will be another Democrat slush fund that wastefully passes out money where the only real winners will be the people that make-up the Democrat political machine. The Harris campaign should pivot that policy say it is proposing spending up to $40 billion dollars on specific programs that generate the housing volume America needs like maybe a specific program that subsidizes loans for builders of first time buyer homes a program that is providing low interest loans; and maybe fund needed housing for recovered drug addicts who because of their addiction have mental and physical health problems where they cannot either get a job or get one where they can afford housing and need public housing to not be homeless and to not fall back into the drug addiction life! On a different but related vein the Harris plan to raise the earned income tax credit to $1,500.00 for people without children is a very good idea cause it is an effort to make America work for Americans that are being responsible citizens if you hold a job and work hard in America you shouldn't be living in poverty.

The Harris campaign offers a lot of good policy on the health care cost front. The idea to transfer the lowering of drug cost due to the Federal governments new negotiating power in the "Medicare Program" to all Americans will save all Americans a lot of money. Capping insulin cost to $35/month for non-Medicare users is good, that is, offers meaningful savings. The efforts to stop the abuses by the Pharmaceutical Benefit Managers are good and will significantly help Americans. Making permanent the enhanced premium assistance by the Federal Government in the individual health insurance market is great that saves Americans a significant amount of money. But the idea to make the cap on out of pocket cost for drugs of $2000 per year in the Medicare program apply to all Americans is legitimately considered by Republicans as a wacko progressive Democrat idea; capping out of pocket cost for drugs doesn't mean Pharmaceutical Companies don't get the full amount they are charging for the drugs they provide, it just means the health insurance providers for all Americans will be picking up more of the cost that is paid to the pharmaceutical companies and where do the health insurance companies get the money to pay this expense exactly from premiums enrollees in their insurance plans pay so this drug cap policy will dramatically raise premiums for ordinary Americans because they pay a significant portion thereof and because the Federal Government subsidizes premiums in the individual market the expense in the Federal Budget for the ACA will dramatically increase. Why doesn't the Harris campaign pivot and say with everything a Harris administration is planning to do to lower drug costs for American families most Americans out of pocket costs for drugs will be less than two thousand dollars per year.

On the issue of shocking higher food prices Americans are experiencing when shopping in their supermarkets the Harris campaign is poised to make a major blunder. To start with the Harris campaign has a winning policy idea to charge and unleash the respective Federal agency to investigate price gouging of product producers for products found in supermarkets I would be willing to bet there is a lot of companies that have upped their profit percentage from before the pandemic and they should be forced to roll back their opportunistic price hikes; however, it is a minor percentage of producers gaming the system like this most producers have raised their prices based on the increases in their costs, in most cases it is not a corporate greed problem. So the reports in the media announcing a policy initiative where shortly after Kamala Harris is sworn in as President her administration will have a bill submitted to Congress that puts limits on how much food producers and major grocery stores in America can raise prices is a terrible policy idea; it violates stewardship of an economy 101. The executives of these businesses have a duty to try to make a great profit so if the government limits how much they can charge for their product they will cut their expenses that is cut employees cut manufacturing capacity and cut other areas that will reduce supply in the market place and the American people will see supply shortages. Republicans will legitimately paint the Harris administration as offering failed policies here that will really hurt Americans. I think the Harris campaign would be better off in their response to the inflation problem that has occurred over the last four years by saying that yes the occurrence is bad we need to remember why it happened it was because of the pandemic which shut down the economy and in opening up the economy the country had supply chain problems some of our ports had a queue of fifty ship never experienced before, we had China with a zero covid policy which often wasn't exporting, Americans were understandably afraid of getting covid and so were somewhat slow to come back into the workforce which set off a contest for labor for businesses which drove up their wage expense, etc. which triggered high inflation which has a self perpetuating quality about it. Focus on the good the Federal Reserve Bank chairman Jay Powell is doing a stellar job in getting inflation under control and soon the inflation rate will be permanently stabilized in a good range of two percent. With respect to the 19% inflation rate experienced over the past four years unfortunately it is not realistic to expect this to be reversed, so what the country needs to do is to grow wages and expound on the chip act, the infrastructure bill and things like the Biden's protection of the Domestic steel industry. Offer that the Harris administration will revive the housing industry which spins off a lot of economic activity. But this following policy I think would be transformative for America in this area and the positive effect would be permanent, for the last twenty plus years we have had various domestic manufacturing industries come under assault from lower cost foreign imports and the American people and especially those Americans in the affected industry have to stand on pins and needles hoping the White House will come to their aid with protective tariffs. This discretionary situation needs to stop the Harris campaign should offer a policy initiative that they will get through Congress and enacted into law legislation that puts a duty on the Executive Branch of government to protect Domestic manufacturing industries that are providing significant good paying jobs from lower cost foreign imports that stand to take significant market share from these domestic manufacturers and cause a meaningful number of job losses in these American companies. This is a relevant issue, in the past year the domestic mattress manufacturing has suffered a major loss of income from lower cost foreign importers which has culminated in a significant number of Americans losing their jobs they held with these domestic manufacturers. Recently there was an article in the Wall Street Journal about an American manufacturing company that makes antibiotics that is in danger of going out of business because of lower cost imports from India apparently India exports a lot of Pharmaceutical or Pharmaceutical ingredients into America; it is foolish beyond words that the American government doesn't protect the domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Supply shortages for products in this industry that could readily result from foreign countries not being as stable as America would foreseeably result in the death of Americans, how can elected officials in Washington be okay with the current situation here!

The Harris campaign has a lot of great social programs it is planning the real challenge in offering such programs is how to pay for them and the Harris campaign's plans are really a mixed bag. it really needs to reassess or it is going to lose a lot of votes because many American will think the Harris plans will hurt America and so won't vote for Kamala this November. A Harris administration plans to raise the corporate tax rate to twenty-eight (28) percent from twenty-one (21) percent the current rate that is colossally stupid. Before 2017 America's corporate tax rate was thirty-five percent and was so for twenty-four years during which there was a consensus amongst members of Congress from both parties that it way too high. The harm this caused was monumental over the years as U.S. Corporations became foreign corporations to escape this tax rate. Twenty-eight percent is too high people that own and run American corporations can be very ingenious in taking steps to avoid America's high taxes. This raising of the corporate tax rate will result in at minimum investors investing in foreign corporations and growing them as opposed to investing in and growing American corporations resulting in the loss of jobs and economic activity from U.S. corporations. There is an opportunity on this issue for the Harris administration the historic bipartisan consensus by a major bloc of members of Congress was twenty-five percent and if there wasn't a narcisistic President in the White House in 2017 the 2017 reform would have produced a corporate tax rate of twenty-five percent. Make it twenty-five percent, reports are that the CBO says that for every point rise in the corporate tax rate it will essentially produce $100 billion dollars of revenue over ten years so a raise to twenty-five would produce $400 billion a Harris administration could do a lot of good with that amount of money! Media reports are the Harris campaign supports taxing unrealized gains for wealthy Americans they should not do it. America is an outstanding country because it is a principled country; taxing unrealized gains is unfair the taxpayer has not yet received the profits from the investment fairness dictates taxing earnings, income and profits, not paper gains. There is no guarantee that unrealized gains will one day lead to recognized gains, investments sometimes go down. Many wealthy taxpayers are cash poor meaning they have their wealth tied up in investments meaning they will have to sell investments to pay their taxes, investing is complex often involves plans to hold an investment for a many year timeline to make the planned return, unrealized gains are sometimes unpredicted so it will sometimes create a real burden on a taxpayer to decide what assets to sell to pay these taxes. An unrealized gain tax is a one hundred percent unfair tax!

President Joe Biden for many decades was against doing away with the filibuster rule because he knew the danger to the country that would ensue from the majority ramming through major legislation that the minority and their constituents find extremely abhorrent and the danger of the political reverberations from this to the country over time; then President Biden sometime during his Presidency succumbed to the pressure from the Progressive wing of his Party and signed on. Democrat Presidential candidate Kamala Harris needs to never sign on to this agenda and make it clear she won't if she wants to sign on to a new filibuster rule of fifty-seven votes to stop a filibuster that is okay because it increases the probability of passing legislation that has eluded America for decades and needs passing but maintain bipartisan support will accompany the legislation. Ms. Harris is a smart lady you don't become the District Attorney of a major city and the Attorney General of a major state and the Senator of that major state without a great ability to assess the future ramifications of your and others major decisions. If a President Harris cooperates in doing away with the filibuster the Democrats will be able to get through legislation that codifies Roe v. Wade and makes it mandatory on every state in America mandating a right to an abortion up to the point of viability; this will make the populations in America's pro-life states what would be fair to characterize as insane mad. The Democrats would be able to enact into law the John Lewis and the other Democrat voting rights bill this would mandate across America no excuse mail in ballots, it would entrench voting rolls with a lot of error, it would paralyze people that want to have a fair and good voting system as it creates a whole slew of federal crimes which could ensnare these people wanting to do good, it would put a partisan U.S Attorney General in charge of the whole election system across the country. The Democrats would put majority public opinion in control of whether police officers are charged with crimes involving physical conflict that occurs while they are doing their job which would make police departments across America alarmingly and shockingly weak! Democrats would pass legislation that would allow unions to force their way in any business and organization they want to across America causing a lot of U.S. businesses and organizations to fold over time! The list of destructive and bad legislation that could be enacted could be continued. Any smart and knowledgeable leader in America could see if they care to consider the effects of such a development that the political fissures that would result would eventually definitely permanently split apart the nation of America! Candidate Kamala Harris has to at an outstanding rate take a public stance on this issue which has a direct bearing on whether America will survive as a nation!

Raising taxes to support programs for the "poor" isn't my idea of good economics. Way too much debt already.

WOW, for someone supposedly Center-Right you’re certainly willing to watch others suck on the Fovernment test that is bankrolled by your and my tax money. No thank you.

These fuckers need to become independent or what’s the line from a Christmas Carol… ““If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population”

Also, the “poor” include people with incomes of $400,000 getting the child tax credit Harris wants to increase.

Why should retirees on a fixed income of $50k, who are already paying to educate the children, now have to help pay day care costs of the lawyer married to the middle manager in a corporation?

...who also got his school loan paid off.....
