In Washington state we have mail-in ballots only and we just received them in the mail today. When looking it over I see a whole list of names for President.

It's not just Clinton/Kaine, Trump/Pence, Stein/Baraka &/or Johnson/Weld. There are more, including...

Alyson Kennedy/Osborne Hart-----Socialist Workers Party
Gloria Estela La Riva/Eugene Puryear-----Socialism & Liberation Party
Darrell L Castle/Scott N Bradley-----Constitution Party

Who are these people anyway? I've never heard a peep or seen anything anywhere about any of them. Have any of you? If you don't like the other obvious choices, would you consider voting for either of these?

I have heard of all those parties but not the people. I have heard about Castle. I voted for the Constitution party back in 2008 and Libertarian party in 2012.

I've participated in 11 presidential elections and voted 6 times for non-major party candidates. I was looking forward to voting for a Republican this go-round to have a sense of symmetry in my voting preferences: 3 votes for Democrats, 3 for Republicans and 6 for none-of-the-above. But looks like that's not to be as this year I'm looking to write in Evan McMullin, one of the 16 write-in candidates the State of Arizona will recognize.

Arizona law says write-in votes are counted only for those who have previously registered and submitted a slate of electors.

Write-in votes only count as protest votes. Same goes with 3rd party candidates. I was even contemplating voting for Johnson this time but he stands a zero chance of winning any electoral votes let alone the election, and I don't like his lack of knowledge on foreign affairs.

So we're stuck with 2 bad choices, but it's all about picking the lesser of the evils. For the 1st time I'm voting democrat for president. I don't especially like Hillary Clinton and I don't agree with her on many things but she's the better choice over the slimebag Donald trump in my opinion.

In today time that is the wonder of Google and Bing so you can research each candidate and could actually make a real informed choice...

One thing for sure if I were Progressive I would vote for stein over Clinton and seeing I am more Libertarian mean Johnson over Trump...

If you are Constitutionalist then you might want to research Castle and Bradley and see if they suit you for your vote...

That's kind of a DUH, to look them up. My point in creating the thread, was to not only question their existence, but to possibly inform others that if they didn't like the 4 known candidates, there are other options. I had not expected to find there were other options available.

May I ask why not?

You are just voting for Hillary. Every foreign government that wants to buy the oval office thanks you.

Nothing like putting a retard on ignore after their first comment you have seen.

Well I suppose because I hadn't looked any deeper into the prospect of there being anyone else beyond the Fantastic 4. And to use some famous words 'I don't recall' there being others in previous races that hadn't had atleast some press, of some sort.

Pretty sure people can go to their local voting office and ask for a sample ballot so they can do research on who is on the ballot.

This election cycle is one of those weird cases when you will notice the other candidates more because the Main two are horrible and the second tier make you cringe at the thought of them winning...

I believe 2000 was like this and 1992...

They're not on the ballot in every State.

I haven't heard of Evan McMullin, either except on this forum...nor is he on our ballots
