You had people in The FBI actually altering emails so that they could engage in illegal spying, and try to frame innocent people.

Keep in mind, the best way to kill [truthful] accusations of foul play is to form a committee (or designate a committee) to study the matter, and then the committee simply never completes its task. A couple years later, who cares?

My guess is that the FBI will "lose" the laptop and then announce that they are returning the property to Uncle Pootie, explaining that it is their property as the whole event was determined to be Russian Misinformation.
