Hegseth was obviously looking at a classified document when he was typing his comments into the Signal chat. That classified document was most likely marked as SECRET or TOP SECRET. As the article below explains, the classified document that Hegseth was copying was most likely the Air Tasking Order used by the Air Force for launching military air strikes.
In other words, Hegseth knew that he was typing classified information into the Signal chat....and he did it, anyway.
Hegseth knowingly broke the law and he should be fired. And everyone else involved in that Signal chat should also be fired. They all knew that you don't discuss classified information on your cell phones. Period.
There needs to be a full Congressional investigation....but Trump's sycophantic MAGA Congress probably won't do it. And Pam Bondi at DOJ sure as hell ain't going to perform a criminal investigation, although she definitely should.
If an average Joe in the military or Federal government had done this, then that person would go to jail.

'Appalling': Fighter pilots say Hegseth's Signal texts put troops in harm's way
Former F/A-18 combat pilots were astonished that Defense Secretary Hegseth texted details of planned airstrikes.
