CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office released reports Saturday from two experts in use of force by police who concluded that the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice by a Cleveland officer was "tragic" and "heartbreaking," but reasonable given that the officer believed the boy to be armed.

Tamir Rice shooting was tragic but reasonable: prosecution experts
For those not familiar...this is the case where police shot a 12 year old boy with a toy gun in a park after a 911 call that someone was pointing a gun at passersby.

The caller expounded that the subject may have been a juvenile and the gun may not have been real...but this information was not relayed to the responding officers.

The article explicitly qualifies this report as the first of many expert witness testimonies to be released in this case.

Liberals are really jackasses about this case. This was obviously a terrible tragdey. I mean seriously, what motive did the cops have to murder a 12 year old boy?? Of course liberals are going to say racism..even though there's not one iota of evidence in their record suggesting the cops were racist.

Basically what most knowledgeable people said just days after the incident.

Tragic. Sad. But legal.

And....while legal...I'll add dumb. Never should've pulled up that close. Still legal.

Well hey, you never know right? Kid at a park, not hurting anyone... better shoot on sight. That's Police Academy 101 right?

Wow...yeah...that's EXACTLY what they teach. Find a 12 year old and roll up and shoot him.

By "not hurting anyone" do you include pointing a gun at people?

The article says that he reached into his waistband on video after the officers arrived. The 911 dispatcher had relayed that the subject was pulling the gun from his waistband.

"There can be no doubt that Rice's death was tragic and, indeed, when one considers his age, heartbreaking," Sims wrote in a 52-page analysis. "However, I conclude that Officer Loehmann's belief that Rice posed a threat of serious physical harm or death was objectively reasonable as was his response to that perceived threat."

Both experts reviewed surveillance camera footage of the shooting and concluded that the fact that Tamir reached toward his waistband gave first-year officer Timothy Loehmann legal reason to consider him a threat and open fire Nov. 22 outside Cudell Recreation Center on the city's West Side.

The cops hurt more people than the innocent kid did that day.

Innocent? He pointed a gun at people. Then reached for the gun when cops arrived. (CUE libs saying "it wasn't a real gun"!!!! as if the officer's knew that)

Murder is a crime. Which cop are we talking about....because the Cleveland cops did not commit murder.

If it was a local citizen with a conceal carry permit, and upon seeing the kid he pulled out his gun and killed him... would you call that a murder?

And at the other end of the spectrum...

A 12-year-old boy wanted for the murder of a 31-year-old drug dealer has been arrested, after more than a week on the run.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that they plan to charge Jarrell and two teen accomplices with first-degree murder as adults.

'All three suspects had guns. There were shell casings from two different types of guns at the scene,' Douglas County District Attorney Don Kleine said, adding that the victim was shot at close range.

An on duty cop isn't an ordinary citizen. Arrest powers and a sworn oath to go into 911 calls. FAR different than average Joe.

BUT....if average Joe saw someone pointing a gun....and went to intervene...and had to shoot to defend himself....he probably wouldn't be charged.

Tamir was a victim of extremely poor police tactics.

If I was the recorder I would be beyond peeved with the operator of the PD car.
