James E. Burke, electronics engineer at the U.S. Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center, received U.S. patent 10,180,309 on Tuesday, giving the Army intellectual property protections on Burke’s “Electromagnetic Pulse Transmitter Muzzle Adapter.”

This invention would enable a single soldier in a ground unit to destroy enemy electronics, such as small drones or improvised explosive devices, by attaching a special blank-firing adapter to their rifle’s muzzle, then firing a shot.

The muzzle attachment contains a piezoelectric generator, powered by firing the blank cartridge, which creates an electromagnetic pulse directed by a horn antenna.

You gonna hafta get really close with that. A few feet max.

apparently not ! but happening in several states and in military base air spaces ! a swarm recently tailed a Cost Guard vessel !

Maybe Jersey has changed since the last time I was there. I has been a decade or so...

What about flying a cheap drone with magnets attached to it...collide it with the unknown drone & it'll stick to it because of the magnets.

Then the weight & drag of your cheap drone will mess up the aerodynamics of the unknown drone & it will have to either land or crash.

And they don't have any way of knowing....which is the root of this problem...

Some times regulation is good. This is one of those times imho.

Butttttt, regulation will prevent this in the future, and not help one iota with what is happening right now!

The govt needs to use all resources right now, to figure this out....if they can....

If this drone flying was in daytime, I'd guess it was something like Zillow mapping neighborhoods, or Google maps maybe?

But it's not daytime, so that is out....

Honestly...that's exactly what I think.

Based on, just ruling out all other things...it ain't "hobbyists". If it was our military I think they would have stopped by now (or completed the mission). And I'm not quite ready to think it might be martians.

You'll do no such thing and you know it. America isn't the same,.nor are Americans. Worse, China has been light years ahead of the West with their manipulation and influence campaigns. Some sort of announcement needs to go out by the govt, that all large drone flying must stop in this area temporarily....until they find the culprits thru detective work, if the flyers just don't fess up. And the public notified large drones will be brought down, if they continue to fly them....

You'd think there was a way to technically take over the controls thru some sort of hacking?

I'd put 20:1 odds they are American military. The problem is, the U.S governments silence just creates conspiracy freaks and/or suspicion of the governments purpose. If it was all supposed to be a top secret test, well, that doesn't make sense either because why would they operate in such a highly populated area?

Based on some reports, civilians have tried flying their retail drones up to them. The attempts I saw on video resulted in the retail type drone being disabled and failing. Apparent loss of battery power. Could be software / signal related, though.

They can't stay in the air forever.

I would guess it’s some sort of military operation, testing new toys. Most likely surveillance related.
