With the resolution of Kamala Harris as the Democrat Presidential candidate presumptive nominee there is a lot excitement around her campaign which is great now there is real hope that the Democrats can beat Donald Trump this November! However, the Democrats would be fools to think an abundance of excitement will definitely translate into getting enough votes to win this year's election, the campaign must be run to garnish the votes needed to achieve this. The campaign has said by the end of next week they will pick their Vice-President nominee and they have provided a short list of candidates; from this list it definitely appears the campaign could really hurt itself. Democrats need to remember inflation is a real problem for ordinary Americans and they blame the Democrats this fact makes the race the Republicans to lose meaning Democrats have to accumulate every bloc of voters they can to get a winning coalition. Kamala selecting Pete Buttigieg, the Transportation Secretary, as her Vice-President pick would be a major mistake because he is a married gay man. Me personally I would vote for that ticket Pete is intelligent, responsible and a good person he has the qualities to be a great VP and President, but picking Pete as the VP the campaign risk losing a significant number of what I call the Nikki Haley voters - Republican leaning voters that cannot stomach voting for Trump because of his character for disrespecting people, being a magnet for doing bad things and the like; many of these voters have a strong Christian or other religious leaning and would find it also intolerable voting for a Presidential ticket with a VP the person next in line to be President who is a gay man in a gay marriage they view such a lifestyle as sinful and an offense against God and so wouldn't vote for such a ticket! The other candidate on the short list who his selection would be a big mistake would be Josh Shapiro the Governor of Pennsylvania because of the Israel issue. Me I would vote for such a ticket because I perceive Kamila as strong and she is going to do what needs to be done to stand up for all those innocent Palestinians civilians in Gaza who are undergoing extreme humanitarian hardship, whatever person holds the VP seat ain't going to stop her; however not every American voter is going to be so discerning in their deliberations. When Joe Biden was still at the top of the Democrat ticket many political experts said that Joe was going to lose a significant number of votes in the election from voters who are either mad or it doesn't morally sit right with them the violence and humanitarian suffering these civilians are subjected to and believe President Biden didn't do enough to stop this outcome! The campaign picking Josh Shapiro who has harshly condemned the student protest movement trying to stop the extreme inhuman treatment of Palestinian civilians in Gaza that had gripped the nation for quite awhile would be considered as tone deaf by this voter bloc and raise the question in their mind about how committed a President Harris would be to confronting Israel on this matter and a good assessment would conclude this selection would cost candidate Harris a significant number of Gaza issue voters.
One of CNN Host's recently asked a guest, a high profile Kamala Harris supporter, how much the campaign would utilize President Biden to bring him to campaign events to try to rally support for the Harris campaign. The smartest move would be as little as possible because Joe is perceived by the majority of voters as a failure on how to address key economic issues facing America. First Joe thought inflation wasn't a problem and now he thinks the inflation problem is the result of greed by American corporations raising the price of their goods and services too high, Joe is perceived as not smart on these issues the American people know that the cause of inflation is the cost of materials and labor for these corporation has gone up - and the problem needs more than political hack rhetoric. By many many Americans President Joe Biden is viewed as not a high quality leader but just a purveyor of political ideology! This writer thinking about Joe Biden and his long career in Washington as an elected public official had believed he was an intelligent and fairly principled leader, but this coming out by Joe Biden yesterday for his policy changes about the Supreme Court was the straw that broke the camel's back here. It further cements the conclusion that for Joe Biden it was always about the politics how can I advance the political agenda I like the principles involved never held paramount importance to Joe; back twenty, thirty, forty years ago elected officials and the media focused much more on the merits of the issues than today and this reality and the fact that Joe Biden represented Delaware a conservative state probably lead to the restraint Joe Biden showed in not more extensively espousing liberal or progressive ideology! On Supreme Court reform any experienced knowledgeable commentator especially one that sat on the Senate Judiciary Committee for thirty plus years knows that the problem with the Supreme Court stems from Presidents no longer needing sixty Senate votes, meaning Bi-partisan support, to get a Supreme Court nominee confirmed so Presidents can now install on the Court Justices that are activists and partisan. Before Harry Reid did away the filibuster rule for Supreme Court nominees, nominees like Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Cony Barrett their record clearly indicated they would be activists Justices! President Biden should have been calling for reform of the confirmation processes for Justices, a sixty vote threshold for confirmation unless the seats been open for two years during the appointing Presidents term than the threshold drops to fifty-five votes and Senate votes must be held withing one year of when the nomination is submitted to the Senate, no exceptions on this one year rule. Joe Biden's call for an eighteen year term limits for justices on the Supreme Court is clearly a partisan political move to remove right leaning justices from the court so their seats can be filled with left leaning justices; if this change occurred next year during a Harris Presidency three current Justices terms would end immediately for surpassing this limit Roberts, Alito and Thomas so a President Harris would immediately fill three seats on the Court. Any high quality analysis of Supreme Court reform knows that there has to be an age limits set for Justices so America doesn't face a RBG scenario again where the ideological balance of the Court is in sway and a Justice in her eighties is remaining on the court when she could step down and the current President could fill her slot with an ideological like Justice; a not overly political President would have called for reform of the court with an age limit of seventy-five!

When the campaign starts all this effort claiming a Trump second administration is going to implement all these scary policies contained in Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation report they are making a mistake, Donald Trump distanced himself from this report he did not adopt it as his second term agenda so to fair voters it looks like an unfair labeling of Donald Trump also in effect a waste of the campaign time; and it is really nonsensical considering how many scary policies Donald Trump has connected himself to with his mouth that the campaign could with merit use against him. Also, the campaign makes a notable mistake when it harps on Donald Trump's thirty-four felony conviction and how Kamala the prosecutor knows the big bad felon Trump; to many Americans including independents this New York felony conviction case is a disgrace it is a weak case a record keeping case and one has to stretch to find felony crimes - the campaign should tread lightly on Donald Trump and the claim he is this big law breaker because to much of the American public the criminal and civil prosecutions of Donald Trump were political and an abuse of the system and it makes Americans angry how the Democrats used the criminal justice system as a political weapon, it has weakened our Democracy! Another point is how the campaign sometimes spins things in an unfair manner an example is when the campaign says Donald Trump is planning to lower the taxes on the wealthy in the amount of five trillion dollars if he wins the election. I think what the campaign is referring to is Donald Trump's plan to extend the 2017 tax cuts which expire after 2025 for the wealthy so technically Trump is not planning to lower the wealthy's taxes but extend the current rate. The campaign should not try to spin this with the lower tax claim but say it that Trump wants to extend the 2017 tax cuts for both wealthy Americans and ordinary Americans where the Democrats want to extend it for just ordinary Americans and none of these tax extensions are paid for so the Federal government will have pay for it by either changing the tax code or cutting spending and the cost to extend the tax cuts for the wealthy will be $5 trillion over ten years and America is in a state of alarming deficits with a deficit of $1.9 trillion this fiscal year ending on September 30th. Lastly, the campaign makes too much of the stupid and weird stuff J.D. Vance has said since he entered politics, J.D. a regular guy came to Washington and wanted to find a place where he fit in and the MAGA Republican home seemed like a good fit so he acted MAGA and became an adopted son and now under the normal people spot light his behavior appears weird and kooky; the bottom line is that J.D. Is a smart guy he is a graduate of Yale Law School he will develop the persona to fulfill his role in the campaign which is to sell the Donald Trump candidacy not to become a big controversy, so it is imprudent for the Harris campaign to spend a lot of time trying to paint J.D. Vance as a really out there right winger like Sarah Palin because it is a waste of time by election day J.D. Vance will have gotten his sea legs and be behaving pretty much like a traditional V.P candidate as much as an average person can on a Donald Trump ticket!
One last point, the American people need to know what Kamala Harris's position is on breaking the filibuster rule in the Senate; the filibuster rule is the rule which requires sixty votes in the Senate to bring a bill to the floor for an up or down vote, technically the sixty vote threshold is needed to stop a filibuster meaning an indefinite debate on a bill and when debate is stopped then a bill can be brought to the floor for a passage vote. Radical Democrats claim that this rule has its roots in Jim Crow laws and the continuation of this rule is a continuation of Racial Discrimination; such malicious attacks are garbage the men and women over the past fifty plus years that have preserved the filibuster rule have not done so with any discriminatory or any other character depraved reason they have done so to prevent instability in our laws they recognized that a lot of harm would result from fluctuation in our nations laws as the majority in Washington regularly swings like a pendulum from the Democrats to the Republicans. The Harris campaign cannot duck the question or carve out exceptions to the rule like for bills on the subject of voting rights, etc..; both these tactics will be deemed as permanently doing away with the rule for the American people have a good idea of what the Democrat party is about the filibuster would have already been done with without Senators Sinema and Senator Manchin and we saw how the Democrats drove them out of the Democrat party and secondly Republicans will never accept unilateral partisan carve outs. The campaign should not dismiss or play games with this issue because they are playing with country destroying nitroglycerin here; the Democrats need to understand that deep red states are not joined to the country of America unconditionally. Doing away with the filibuster rule and Democrats over time turning America into a socialist country where parents, individuals and religious groups rights are subjugated to the nation's left wing cultural views isn't sustainable to staunch Republicans; deep red states will secede and form their own country amounting to a federation. It would be okay if the Harris campaign came out and said for too too long the nation has been unable to make real headway on serious problems facing America like comprehensive immigration reform and the crushing cost of healthcare in America in part because of the filibuster rule it is almost impossible to get sixty Senators to agree to major policy reforms so let us try to lower the filibuster rule to fifty-seven Senators only fifty-seven Senatgors would only be needed to end debate on a bill (and in thirty years if that hasn't worked we can lower the rule to 55 senators). The Harris campaign should think long and hard about committing to not kill the filibuster rule because if centrist Americans don't have to worry about stopping a Harris administration from destroying this rule and thereby putting America on an unrecoverable trajectory to being split apart than they can support a Kamala Harris Presidency getting a Democrat controlled Senate and House which will unleash a lot of great things like through the Legislative tool of Reconciliation extending the 2017 tax cuts for ordinary Americans and providing a child tax credit that raises over half the families now in poverty out of poverty and a child care tax credit that stops the crushing financial burden of child care on a working parent(s)!
