What they do is keep us safe from foreign threats . And yes a by product of that is they keep us free from bad shit they would do to us .

OP is correct. The military protects that which spawned it - the military industrial complex.

Except that the NRA exists to protect pretty much the same people. Back when I was a member, they protected rights and lives. Now they work for those who make a profit off of killing and death.
