The latest test is the third time Nork nuclear capability has unexpectedly taken a quantum leap upward. No doubt Iran and China are offering aid.

The missile traveled some 620 miles and reached a height of about 2,800 miles before landing off the coast of Japan early Wednesday local time, flying for a total of 54 minutes. This suggested it had been fired almost straight up — on a “lofted trajectory” similar to North Korea’s two previous ICBM tests.

If it had been flown on a standard trajectory designed to maximize its reach, this missile would have a range of more than 8,100 miles, said David Wright, co-director of the global security program at the Union of Concerned Scientists.

“This is significantly longer than North Korea’s previous long-range tests, which flew on lofted trajectories for 37 minutes and 47 minutes,” Wright said. “Such a missile would have more than enough range to reach Washington, D.C.”

/----/ What worries me is if some NK scientist screws up the programming and a "test" flight hits Japan or SK by accident.

Since I am west of Washington DC, I wouldn't have to worry about the Fallout. I think the NK should try out their accuracy on San Fransicko before they go longer though. Wouldn't miss that city...

We still don't know if they can hit an elephant in the ass with a bass fiddle.

How would the world react if Un dropped one on Mexico City? Or, how about Montreal?

Would love to see Kim shoot a missile and it went awry and ended up in Peking.. Would all those people in there be Peking Duck? Talk about the repercussion Kim would have when he tried to splain what happened?

It's been over 150 years. Don't you think it is about time you grew up and stop embarrassing yourself with stupidity like that?

They can hit Washington DC?

Are they trying to destroy the country or save it?

N. Korea must be the stupidest country in history - to pick a fight with the largest nuclear arsenal in history (for no particular reason)? Even if they lob one nuke at us, we have the firepower to vaporize every square mile of that putrid little nation into a glowing, radioactive memory.

But we won't.

I know. The fact we haven't already is a testament to our humaneness. When it comes to a country's available firepower versus how much of that firepower that country actually uses, it makes the USA the ultimate "gentle giant" of all major, dominant world powers.
