They are going after the bookstores, just like we told you they would. This kinda thing is all about the "creep". They take a little, and you go "see? that's not so bad!" then they take take a little more and it's all "well that's still not that much more" but it happens over and over and before long we are living in a fascist "alles verboten" society.

TX has always been odd when it comes to book banning....But drag queen shows for children is just dandy with them.

I always did say TX would be the last red state I would choose when it comes to rights....They are fine on guns but other rights are open to question.

It does show the increased authoritarianism of the right but in the end it will never pass or withstand a court.

This is a weird thread. Has ANYONE on the right said anything like, "Don't worry, we are just doing schools and libraries"?

Anyone who thinks about the problem of LIBERALISM, seriously for even a second, would realize that we need to purge institutions and organizations across sociey of liberals and their work.

Link to anyone saying anything like that, please.

Yes, tell any tRumpling "it's a book ban" and their excuse, every single time, is that it's not because you can still go out and buy it, just not check it out at the public library.

My county is going through a "library crisis"......They want copious county funding with no oversite.

Liberals ran it then the Catholics brought them up short and it's been a total clusterfuck ever since.....Neither "side" wants county oversite!

My county supervisor asked my opinion, and I said if they don't want oversite then shut it down (the building is county property) and either sell the building or make county offices out of it as I know they are short on office space.

Its not fascism, its still about keeping materials from childrens' easy access. Those bookstores can still sell the books if they have an adult section.

Secondly, its not fascism, some of the people here are gaslighting. What is fascism?? as I can see it "a bill has been introduced "and it needs to be voted on. is that really how fascism works?
This is why our system of having individual states works well. If you dont like Texas you can live in another state. This allows for people of different mindsets to all live within one country, and have those differences.
p.s.-- this still needs to go through legal process, its not fascism and its not BANNING any books. Those books can still be bought by any adult if this was to go through.

"bill has been introduced to the Texas Legislature that could result in bookstores facing fines and legal costs if they place material deemed "obscene" within access of a minor.

House Bill 1375 was proposed by state Representative Nate Schatzline, a Republican, who said it is needed to keep "harmful material" away from children. Critics argue it would force bookshops to self-sensor or risk potentially devastating lawsuits.

Newsweek contacted Schatzline for comment via email on Friday."

What "oversite" (I believe you mean "oversight") does a library need?

The very same people who decried the Democrats actions to silence speech, now wants to silence speech.

Go figure!
