Just in the last few days we have seen Richard Dreyfuss blasting Hollywood's inclusion standards saying, "They make me vomit", Scott Baio has said he is moving away from California due to it's high crime and woke policies, and now we have none other than Tom Hanks himself criticizing the left's cancel culture saying, "Let me choose what I am offended by". Apparently he doesn't want the Borg Collective telling him what he should be offended by and that he wants the power to decide for himself. How long will it be before the Borg Collective casts him out or doubles down on their efforts to assimilate him? Is resistance futile?

Besides censorship, books have also been increasingly banned in schools.

So is the argument here that's it's bad to censor a book but not to ban it?

I'm surprised Mr. Hanks hasn't been canceled already. You would think the libs would have been offended by his portrayal of donkey sex and bestiality in Hanks' magnus opus, "Bachelor Party". Didn't that offend PETA?

There is a huge difference in schools not allowing books that are inappropriate for children and the banning of materials from adults in general.

Hanks seems to be responding to the right wing expecting people to be offended due to the fact that Bud light sponsored a transgender person.

You don't tell Tom Hanks to be mad at a beer company. I agree

Depends. Censoring a book would seem to prevent anyone from accessing its contents while preventing children from accessing content not appropriate for them to consume would be something completely different. You need to properly define what it is about which you're trying to complain.

As a parent should that also not be up to me? Nothing is being banned from adults in general.
Child porn is banned from adults in general, and rightly so.

As a parent, you can provide your children access to books/materials that may be censored from them at school. Buy your 5 year old (mod's this his hypothetical) a copy of Hustler Magazine if you like, but don't expect him to be able to get Hustler in the school library or for the teachers to use Hustler as part of the curriculum.

Being more specific, I do not support either side of the argument here.

Yes, if you feel that your child should be reading inappropriate material, there's nothing stopping you from buying it and giving it to him/her.

I don't believe education is inappropriate as many others seem to.

This attitude is what is ruining movies. There are very few mainstream movies anymore where the creators actually make the movie they want without deviation.

Movies now have to be made according to percieved opinions of Twitter trolls and political correct police. They have to be made in ways that's acceptable to the general public instead of what the creator wants.

Aqua teen hunger force summed up very nicely creating content according to standards and practices in 60 seconds.

He can say that, he's made his millions. If it was 30 years ago and he was asked the same question he would kneel.

This is the problem now that America has become more trusting of Canada and Eastern European systems. You are becoming more and more like us and ones Social Credit Score will decide if you are accepted or left careerless as one of the "undesirables".

Maybe you could quote that for proof.

Tom Hanks cares about anything the "right wing" has to say? News to me.
