Racism in California? Impossible.

Many longtime residents of the neighborhood previously told the (Palm Springs, Calif.) Desert Sun they believed the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s, and remained a lasting remnant of the history of segregation in the city. Residents said the invasive tamarisks, which block views of the Tahquitz Creek Golf Course and San Jacinto mountains, have artificially depressed property values and prevented black families from accumulating wealth in their property over the past half century.

‘Racist’ trees separating a black neighborhood from a golf course will come down

Got to rub the scab of hatred and keep it alive.

Who gives a fuck how those trees got there! We all know their were slaves and some people were wrong, but they're fucking dead.

Ok but wait until those racist white golf balls start slicing into their windows

It's an invasive plant that has depressed property value for the people living there for decades

It's not the trees that are depressing property values.

Actually it may be because the tree block the view to the mountain range, but if they are correct and the trees are removed, they won't be able to keep their homes for very long because taxes will eat them alive if the home values double.

Seriously? Is there no limit to the equivocation in which folks with an axe to grind will engage? That the trees are racist is not what anyone thinks or said. Not even the article's author thinks that, yet that is what the notion the OP put forth in his/her thread title.
they believed the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s
How pathetically procrustean or disingenuous, or maybe both, one must be to not recognize the distinction in the rubric article between " 'racist' trees" and "racist trees," using the latter as one's thread title, and not do so even given the remark above that clearly states that what is cited as being racist is the 1960s-era reasons why the trees were planted, not the trees themselves.

If that happens they'll just call in the BLM turds and have a good old fashioned riot. Then the idiots in gubmint will cave, and throw more money at them. Victims, you know...

There are black people in Palm Springs?

I’m surprised that somebody didn’t go and spread some Krovar or atrazine on the soil.
