Trump Is Turning Off All 8,000 EV Chargers at All Federal Government Buildings

I don't think they're going away either but I also don't think they're going to replace hydrocarbon ICE's ... This is just the laws of physics talking.

I'm fairly certain what you will see is a shift towards hydrogen powered hybrids.

It's the first option that has all the bells and whistles needed to survive and become a true replacement for the hydrocarbon ICE.

All electrics are good for certain things I have one myself. It does all the local stuff but that's all it's good for.

Just replacing one polluting technology with another pollution technology isn't an answer ... we have to manufacture the hydrogen fuel by burning coal ... typically we strip the hydrogen off natural gas molecules, so we're still consuming fossil fuels ...

90% fewer passenger vehicles means bicycles ... you could use the exercise ...

EV's aren't going away. Sales keep going up and are projected to rise.

I don't know what world you're watching but it ain't this one:

Electric vehicle (EV) sales fell 1.9 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) and 18.2 per cent month-on-month (M-o-M) to 139,026 units in February, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (Fada).

He said EV sales had peaked and would trend down.

However globally EV sales are expected to grow in the coming years.

WW

I have no problem with folks using the technology and those charging stations should be kept on with an added credit card reader to charge for the actual cost of the electricity and infrastructure already put in place.

No Free Rides!!!

Decent folk should be charging their EVs in the privacy of their own homes ...

Well if you're out of juice away from home that may not be practical. But for sure you should pay for the electricity you use plus some additional to offset depreciation on the infrastructure. I wonder if there was any mechanism in place to restrict access to the EV chargers to federal employees or if any Tom, Dick or Harry could recharge at taxpayer expense?

Good. Trump rules. Marxist heads explode. :laughing0301:

I suspect that his boy Musk will tell him, "Hey, I made most of those electric cars!" and we'll see a reversal soon.
Just make them coin operated

Or in modern terms make them credit card activated

The U.S. General Services Administration, or GSA, is the federal agency responsible for contracts and procurement as they relate to the government’s real estate, IT, products, and equipment, which includes vehicles. According to The Verge, there are several hundred charging stations managed by the GSA, which amounts to roughly 8,000 charging ports across the country. And they now they’re going to be turned off.

“As GSA has worked to align with the current administration, we have received direction that all GSA owned charging stations are not mission critical,” said an agency email viewed by The Verge. “Neither Government Owned Vehicles nor Privately Owned Vehicles will be able to charge at these charging stations once they’re out of service.”

It was probably a green initiative thing for the GS employees who could afford an EV.

As in if you are a GS-13+ and drive your EV vehicle to work and the .gov to pays for your "fuel" (while you steal from the taxpayer) yet the GS-7 clerk has to drive their economy-gasser in and pay for their fuel.

Reminds me of union plants back in the day that made "rice burners" park in the "lower 40" parking lot.
Where will he plug in his new Tesler? LOL
