Of course you have to wonder why republicans would try to justify him having a Chinese bank account at all, let alone more than one. Now how do they explain him lying about it?
In a 2020 debate, he lied about closing the account(s) before he even ran for president but his tax records show they didn’t close until 2018.
Does Trump being a liar about his Chinese accounts make them more suspicious to his base? Here’s the cherry on top: Trump paid more in taxes to China than to the US in 2020.
Let’s also not ignore Trump’s desperate rambling about paying taxes. In the 2020 debates, he claimed to have paid “millions” in taxes. We now know that isn’t true huh?
“Trump enjoyed an adjusted gross income of $15.8 million during his first three years in office. He
paid $642,000 in federal income tax in 2015, $750 in 2016 and in 2017, just under $1 million in 2018, $133,000 in 2019 and nothing in 2020.”
The Trump Organization also collected millions in income from more than a dozen foreign nations while Trump was president, according to his tax returns.
