Washington — The Defense Department said Wednesday it has accepted a Boeing jet from Qatar that will be retrofitted and used to transport President Trump.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth accepted the Boeing 747 "in accordance with all federal rules and regulations."

"The Department of Defense will work to ensure proper security measures and functional-mission requirements are considered for an aircraft used to transport the President of the United States," Parnell said.

Unlike the 757, the 747 can fly across the world without stopping to refuel, it's got 3x the capacity of the 757. It's a freaking status symbol. No, it's not illegal and unconstitutional. It's not going to the Orange Cheeto. It's going to the Air Force. That being said, here is why it's friggin stupid.

1. Due to the possible background, listening and delayed bombs, the Aircraft is going to have to be completely gutted. They are going to have to completely disassemble it. COST: around 2 billion

2. If the decide to just park it, it's still going to cost the millions. And it will continue that way as long as the Orange Cheeto is President. Any other time, it would be sent to DM for surplus where it would be stripped and chopped up.

3. Quatar has been trying to give their 6 747s away for years. No takers. Most Countries are going to things like the Boeing 787 or the Airbus A350. The average cost of either of these two are about 300 million apiece. The cost of a new 747-8 is over 400 million. The cost of making an AF1 out of the 787 would be much, much cheaper plus the cost to operate is a fraction of the cost.

4. The total cost of converting a Boeing 797 or an Airbus A350 would be right around 1.5 billion as compared to a new Boeing 747-8 at over 3.9 million. There is nothing that a 747 can do that a 797 can not do. The original idea for the 747 for AF1, it was the longest legged Airliner in the world and could make it all the way from DC to London . What's happened is the smaller jets have even more range and cost a fraction of the cost of the 747 to operate. Okay, we carry fewer reporters but that would be about the only change.

When would a former president ever be asked to use his own money to maintain a government jet? I think by now no one should underestimate what Trump will attempt to get away with if he has an opportunity. The kinds of things he's gotten away with so far is so looney and over the top corrupt or illegal that simply flying in a government jet after he's out of office is literally nothing.

They actively support terrorist groups including the Houthis. Last time I checked, it would still consist of any country with organized terrorist groups where we would HAVE to be cautious. It still doesn't change the fact that the Orange Cheeto is misusing his CiC position. There is no friggin way that the AF would have accepted it at all except the CiC says so and the AF must follow orders.

The Feds won't pay a dime for the Orange Cheeto to fly in and bask in his brilliant purchase. Unless it can meet or exceed the AF1 requirements then it just ain't gonna happen. It wouldn't be the first time that the AF1 crew told him NO and in this case, it would be HELL NO!!!!

tRump is just misusing his CiC position and it's going to cost millions in the meantime. Chances are, it's going to be parked until he leaves office. It appears he has a "Plan" to have it gifted to him when he leaves office. Not going to happen. It's bound for the DM Graveyard to be stripped of anything worth stripping for the real AF1s. When it runs out of useful parts, the big hammer will come down on it and it will be sold for scrap.
