As long as Trump doesn't turn his back on civil liberty he will maintain broad support. He needs to reiterate that he and America support democracy and liberty in all nations and will stand up, economically and otherwise to those who do not uphold these premises.

There are some promoting the cuts to the State Department as reasons to fear. This has been discussed in Canada and Europe especially. Japan is an ally because they believe in democracy, due process and capitalism. Those nations that do not believe in these premises really by definition are NOT Americas allies and shouldn't be subsidized. One must support such values before one can decide who is an ally or not, it isn't just dollars and cents alone.

He didn't win because he was a member of the GOP, he was the first basically Independent President in our lifetimes. That means he appealed to many on all sides, libertarians and those who believe in Rule of Law. You cannot have law and order if there isn't a legal premise that protects freedoms and citizens rights. It's why he pardoned the Jan 6th people as he believed that their civil liberties were trampled on due to MSM bias few would stand up for them.

You can bet that the caricature of him wanting to violate peoples rights and your Constitution will be the path his opponents pursue. They will try through the courts and other means to paint him as a fascist.

As long as he verbally and through state actions supports civil liberties of humanity, he will never lose the support of Americans.

That's how I see this after reading the attack methods and some pushback from his supporters.
