Trump will announce end of birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants, officials say

I think you misunderstand what that phrase means.

we don't punish children for the crimes of their parents.

The constitution CLEARLY spells out birthright citizenship.
If a criminal robs a bank, we don't let their kids keep the money. Try harder.

I think going back to the corruption of blood idea is pretty good.

Can we remove citizenship from children whose parents rob banks? Maybe even make it just children of convicted felons?

Then deport them to their nearest genetic country of origin, per 23 & Me results. To save money.

95% European and 1% Central American? Enjoy Sunny El Salvador!

Barron Trump? Enjoy Slovenia!

So a persons offspring is also responsible for what a parent does?
The issue is "citizenship". A sovereign country can define what circumstances qualify for citizenship and what ones don't.
I heard one argument that the guy who wrote the 14th intended for two illegals to not produce a citizen.
Another argument is the national security argument, that adversaries are making birthing trips to the US to make "citizens" to potentially injure US national security in the future.

Nope, their parents are responsible, but children can't profit or benefit for their parents' crimes.

So reparation arguments are valid? Many benefitted from the terrible things those who came before them did.

Sure.

You are "reading" into what is clear language? That is all cool now?

If you believe the country should change the wording, you know how to do that.

Funny how polls work, when you only ask a.simpleton question like that.

Then you ask more questions, and American dummies start to realize the actual meaning of what they are saying.

"
By the numbers: Two-thirds of all Americans surveyed said they support deporting immigrants who are in the country illegally.

  • Among Republicans, support was at 93%, followed by 67% for independents and 43% for Democrats.
  • But just 38% of Americans support using active-duty military to find and detain undocumented immigrants in U.S. cities and towns; and only 28% want to use money allocated for the military to pay for deportations.
  • Just one in three endorse separating families or sending people to countries other than their country of origin in the interest of speed. And just one in three support deporting those who came to the U.S. as children.
  • The trends largely track with findings from a Ipsos-Syracuse University poll from November from which the questions were replicated. But the new survey shows even less support for use of active-duty military, or military funds, than the survey from two months ago.

These are strongly left leaning polls as well.

Meaning that Democrat Party leaders are NOT representing their constituents...despite their best efforts to tell them what to think. They still have their independent thoughts.

And then when you propose the.methods forwarded by Trimp, the support falls to 30% or less.

So no, they aren't. You're not even reading my posts, are you? Yawn.

You. You said people are responsible for those who came before them.
Hardly, parents are responsible for their crimes, if it adversely effects their children that is not everyone else's responsibility. Nor do children get to benefit from their parents' crimes.

Ellis island is how they came....everyone signed in for having a skilled trade. He had papers stuffed into the family Bible Grandma made him buy. (He wasn't exactly happy about its purchase either as the story goes)

If they knew the whole truth about my great great grandfather they wouldn't have let him in. (He was something of a drunk)

Today's information age is different from days past. Electronic information is very different.
We know exactly who people are. And most trying to cross illegally are not people we want here for any reason.

Why do you want thieves, drug runners, slavery, and etc to have free reign?

Illegal immigrants do less crime than citizens.
