Since beginning his second term, Trump has consistently had better poll numbers than during his first term. But polls show his approval rating is now falling amid economic anxiety and fears of a recession.

Fox News delivering some bad new for 47. They have been cheerleaders since forever. People (especially in Red States) are NOT happy with his tariffs and are worried about recession that tariffs may bring. Farmers are hurting because his cuts to USAID, which bought many of their crops for worldwide distribution. DOGE is hurting vets. People are scared of losing their Social Security. He does not have the mandate he claims he has and he hurting his own voter base.

A political strategist told Newsweek that negative views of the party resulted from "a combination of Democratic failures."

Just 25 percent of respondents expressed confidence in Democratic congressional leadership, down 9 points from the previous historic low of 34 percent set in 2023. The confidence level is also significantly below Democrats' historic average, which has been about 45 percent since 2001.

Meanwhile, confidence in congressional Republican leadership is on the upswing and is double digits ahead of Democrats.

Thirty-nine percent of respondents said they are confident in GOP leadership, up slightly from 36 percent last year. That level is also 14 points higher than current confidence in Democrats.
